Howdy, I’m new to this forum and need some help.

Yota ( the TO feel off on the first, or second rollover) has an electrical gremlin that I could use a little help with. I am looking for a wiring diagram for a 1966 FJ 45. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers, GrumbleThorpe

Hello, Nice looking Cruiser. You should start a thread about your Cruiser, or ask questions in the FJ45 Club Owners section.

Door handles are RARE! Also, there's two different styles. The body shop broke one of mine, so I had it 3D modeled and have a quote to five axis mill 4 of them from a billet for around $2K. I also 3D printed four out of carbon fiber. I painted silver one to "match" but it's really not close.
Hi would you be willing to share the 3d model?

The manual has several sections on wiring. What are you dealing with? Chassis related? Engine related?
I believe I have a short somewhere. I need battery through ignition, light switch, lights, and heater switch, etc. Mostly all electrical. Yota doesn’t have back-up lights or flashers or trailer light plugs, prity basic.
Issues; 12.5 volts from battery to amp gauge. From amp gauge to
ignition switch 12.5. But,voltage drops to 0.25 to starter. No headlights, heater fan, wiper motors, or brake lights. Fuses all good. Found one wire, green, that if I disconnect from light switch I get better voltage. Replaced ignition switch, voltage regulator, starter motor. That’s the basics, Yota has always started for the last 50 years. It cranked over about three times then went totally dead.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

I have a more detailed diagram in a manual I have at home but, I also have a saved PDF version of the "F-Motor" manual. Here's a diagram of the alternator/voltage regulator circuit. You may want to take a look at the continuity between the "IG" pole on the regulator and the ign. switch. It could be open.

Thanks, any direction may get me to the issue. I’ll check continuity. Do you happen to have a diagram with the color coded wires? Some of the newer models have an inline fuse, I am unable to find one on ours, (there, not there?) your help is appreciated.

I'll check when I get home. This drawing doesn't show color codes. My other one does.

Found these in the manual. Hopefully you can enlarge sections and see what you need:

Howdy Chuckha62,

These help, thank you. Knowing the color of the wires help. The first picture of the whole wiring is a big help, do you know what year that is from? I have a lot less in my vehicle. I don’t have any trailer light stuff, no hazard warning lite stuff, no backup lites, no cigarette lighter. In one sense it’s easier because they aren’t wires there to follow but where do the wires that I have, connect to? Example: on the lighting switch, the ‘L’ post on the diagram goes to the trailer stuff, I don’t have any of that so I am not sure where the ‘L’ green wire goes on my vehicle. I’m going to pull the alternator to prove that it is all good.
What bugs me is, why no headlights, heater switch, wiper switch, starter motor does not turn over but can be jumped access the start solenoid and the engine will turn over. Like a fuse or a short. I have been looking for maybe a sneaky little rat the may have chewed into my wires. If I don’t answer back right away I may be traveling or it’s raining and I don’t feel like getting wet, like it sometimes rains in the northwest.

I do not know the year, but I'm thinking maybe 1967. Reason being that the vast majority of this is a dead-on match to my '66. The only exception being the emergency flasher, which wasn't standard in the US until '67 (but may have been an option in '66, I don't know).

I’m the owner of 63 14452 now. I bought it several years ago. Currently not working and in need of a lot of work.

Doesn’t look like you found that in Kentucky.

Nope. Fresh find here in Montana. I picked it up this morning then had to come to work. All I can think about is getting home and seeing if she will run. I’m pumped. Regretted selling my other Lv’s so maybe this one will stick around. Never had one this complete. Clam shell heater doesn’t hurt either. 😁
