I believe we stretched it 13.5".....right before the rear lower control arm mounts. I have lots of pics if you need any.

We carefully measured everything obviously, braced the frame so we didn't have any movement and basically cut the frame and moved it forward. We had a local shop make us a couple of U channels to the dimensions we wanted....can't recall what thickness we used...looks pretty stout...so maybe 3/16". Once we got that in place, we built an inner U channel and welded it in(no pics of the inner channel unfortunately but it's not too hard to figure out what had to be made). Lower control arm mounts went back in, temporary supports were taken out and that was that....

More pics. Last one shows the inner channels in along with the lower control arm mounts. I think we were fabbing up bed mounts on this day. Temporary supports were still in place....we removed those once everything was fully welded.

Those pics an measurements look/sound very familiar. The sad part is it was over two years ago when I started mine and I'm still no where near being finished. I just bought an hj61 so I would have a running cruiser to drive until I finish my project

Please tell me you are joking pdoyle...that is almost as bad as the pic of that orange truck that fowled up this thread.

Ah...the orange truck. Forgot about that gem. No, no carbon film for my truck....if we do carbon, we do it for real. Since we're talking carbon, I figure I can share these pics of a car we just finished for a client. 72 pieces of custom carbon in the interior of this Porsche. We had the weave custom made for this project to match a couple of pieces that were purchased from Porsche. We laminated these particular pieces but we have the ability to fab pieces. Good stuff. Custom leather on this car too. Probably had the equivalent of a lightly used FZJ79 in just the interior.

My, that is quite impre$$ive to say the very least. It is amazing what a well provisioned billfold can accomplish.

Well provisioned billfold for sure.....we get to do some very interesting projects for this customer. Now if I could only get him into Land Cruisers.......

Any updates on this?

Hello c2dfj45,

The troopie that Crushers is building is mine, and it is great to see someone else going overboard on the details; i'm not the only freak, hey! Lovely pick-up. Never Give Up, 61Mk+

I'm familiar with your build 61Mk+....it's a great one. Details are what it's all about and there are a whole lot of freaks like us! I've built my business around these freaks! ha.

The truck has been great. I'm having a blast driving it. I could care less about any of my other toys....I just want to drive this thing. I'm up to about 2500 miles(I don't have a whole lot of time to drive it) and things have been great...no major issues, no major deficiencies, nothing really to complain about. We spent a few days this week chasing a couple of rattles....did a complete nut and bolt on the truck. Amazing how tight and solid this truck is. I believe I accomplished my goal of building basically a new truck. The body is still beat up but it doesn't seem to bother me....must be because I'm in love. ha. Maybe one day I'll get it fixed.

I have a page long list of stuff that needs to be done....nothing too major other than getting the AC system wired up before it gets warm. Most of it is cosmetic stuff. Going to get the bed Line-X'd. We have a local Line-X guy that sprays a very low texture white product. UV stabilized and of course Line-X durable. They developed it for use on high end boat decks....so not as industrial as a bedliner(I would guess it's lower texture so you can walk on it barefooted). It's pretty interesting. Obviously regular Line-X would work but what fun would it be to do something easy.

Couple of shots of using the truck...hauled a floating dock in it. Must have looked a little strange as I got followed for a while by a couple of lawmen....seemed to be pretty curious about it. REALLY curious actually.

This is cool, I have changed my plans with regards to my PZJ75 build, gonna find a 1HD-T 80 series with front & rear diff's that has been rolled or damaged body wise but still runs sweet & do this!

One of the finest builds on Mud!

How are the Toyo's?

Thanks. I like the Toyos quite a bit. Great ride which is the one thing I figured would suck with them. They're very smooth. A bit of a hum with them but nothing that should deter somebody from them. I haven't had the chance to take them offroad yet but I bet they would be excellent...they seem quite grippy and obviously they wear like iron.

Downside, if it's really a downside, would be their weight...they're very heavy. Keep in mind, I'm really biased and brainwashed....the performance cars we build are usually outfitted with lightweight wheel/tire combos. My 45 series runs a KM2 tire in a similar size and it's quite a bit lighter.

I had 2 of them that were not capable of being balanced(out of round) properly so they were returned for a couple that were much more true. All is good now and the truck rides smooooooooth.

Hello c2dfj45,

I had the body done on the troopie also, and i requested that the existing dents and dings not be removed: it's the vehicle's history. Mind you, none of them were serious. Some offending rust was found and gotten rid of (thank christ), but i do not want a pristine show queen. On the matter of the Line-X type of stuff you mentioned, you said it is designed for high-end boats. Is that boats for salt water? If so, that would be a godsend; keep in mind i live in areas where road salt is judiciously applied, such that on a quiet winter's night, if you listen carefully, you can actually hear the rust nibbling away at the steel. Can you provide a manufacturer's name so that i can look it up please?
Thank You, 61Mk+
