That would be the "tramp tats?" ..... way over the top.

I will go out of my way tomorrow to right this thread with some nice updated pics of MY 79....

The fiendish plan worked...

Thought it was time for an update.....long overdue.

About 400 miles on the clock. Everything is going very well. Chasing some very minor issues(I have some slight OCD tendencies so all issues, even small ones are issues). Exhaust note is driving me nuts....I've got new parts coming in on Monday that we'll install to see what it does....new muffler(Gibson) and a resonator behind it. Still need to hook up the AC controller. Chasing an EGR fault but I'm not so worried about that...the 1FZFE has a couple VSVs that go bad. Mine check out but according to a Toyota tech I know....they can check out just fine but still be bad.

Fender flare extensions for the bumper will go on next week as they are getting painted. Got my cool lock for the spare wheel coming in along with a couple of other goodies. Got a locking cap for the gas tank too. I'm going thru spending withdrawals so now I'm trying to find things to buy for it.

Found one of the MT55 tires to be really out of round....we moved that to the spare wheel location. Still have a little bit of bounce on the right front so we're going to work on getting that dialed in(probably needs a tire...high roadforce compared to the others). The truck rides incredibly smooth. Shockingly smooth actually. Truck feels very tight and steers well. Feels pretty much new. Alignment indicated that the truck is almost perfectly square....out by 1/10". Impressive.

It officially went "offroad" today...even if it was in the industrial park where my shop is. Technically there was not a road.....

Love bugs just started to get going down here....noticed them yesterday. My truck is so agile, I can dodge them. lol. Bet that diesel truck of yours is so slow that those love bugs actually have time to get out of the way. lol. Seems like we both can avoid them.

No mud although it has got some dirty puddle water on it. Not sure it will get a whole lot of mud on it...would have to go way out of my way for mud.

Sadly enough I get love bugs on my tailgate where they overtake me. :D
The plight of the diesel driver. :)

When I see sooo much time and $$$ put into a vehicle like this,I think GPS tracking system and special car insurance. Just my .02.
Very nice work.

That is the advantage of owning a "2H" powered Land Cruiser. If you notice it missing within 5-10 hours, it is still within 75 miles of your house. :D

LOL:o

FWIW, I like the hood ornament on your truck, heck, I'd put one on my old 75 if I had it........although Charles would banish me from the old geezer's club. :D

Carl you would just break it off when you laid that large buck across the hood. :D

I like the hood ornament too.....I find myself staring at it while I'm driving. Kinda cool. It's such a strange looking truck when it's mixed in with the current stuff that is on the road and that hood ornament is part of what makes it strange I think. lol.

I've got a very good insurance policy on this thing PDoyle. I was thinking about a GPS tracking device for it too but either stays in my garage or my shop. Probably won't ever sleep outside on it's own.....

Amazingly enough the good ornament is available in the US market as a purchasable part...

Weird these toyota bean counters....
