I haven't updated in a while....not much to post about. Truck has been nearly perfect....I've covered about 6000 in the year since I finished it. Not many miles but I don't really drive very far to work and I've got several other toys that I drive. We hooked up the AC a couple of months ago...it's been great. Because of my front radiator/condenser/cooler setup, I didn't have room for an electric fan for the AC so we're seeing some shut downs on very hot days when it sits in traffic for a few minutes....going to install a couple of small SPAL fans on it which will help with airflow when the AC is on and we're sitting. Probably just have them come on only when the AC is on....I could put a manual switch on them I guess. We'll see how it does.

Did a LineX bedliner a while back...it's cool stuff. This was the special marine stuff....or at least the stuff Color match is slightly off but it's not by much. I'm picky so I'm probably one of the few that would pick up on it.

I had a guy with a Jeep JK ask me if I wanted to trade but before I could say 'no', he answered himself with a "probably not".

Most people just ask how I got it, what is it, etc. My neighbors must think I'm incredibly proficient with a paint gun and body work...I think they assume it's my 45 pickup that I restored. Must really confuse them when they see my 45 at the house.

I've had a couple people follow me around. Lots of thumbs up. One guy told me that I should have bought a Range Rover. Most people don't even pay any attention to it which is fine by me.

The guy who recommended the Range Rover must be a recent escapee from the local asylum. :)
I was on the Tallahassee truck route recently and saw a Chevy pickup in the rear view that was weaving through traffic at a high rate of speed until he settled in behind me. He followed me for several hundred yards taking pictures with his camera phone. Both flattering and dangerous at the same time.

The guy who made the Range Rover comment had Jersey tags on his car. Go figure. He was driving like a lunatic trying to get next to me...I was avoiding him at all costs but I got hung up in a turn lane.....this was pre-AC so windows were down too. The dude cut across 3 lanes of traffic to get next to me. He was yelling the whole time he was speeding around. In any event when he cornered me and I had to engage him, I came up with some wild number(actually pretty damn close to what it cost me if I had paid for labor) and that's when he told me I should have bought a Range Rover. Pretty sure there was an expletive in there too. I found that one to be pretty funny.

This one wasn't.....I had just got the truck running and driving when I had a late model GM SUV or truck start a full out tail on me in the industrial park near my shop. I was driving around looking for the UPS guy so I was kind of just taking random roads...kept noticing this SUV behind me. There were some detours due to construction so it was a real unusual path I was taking and this truck kept following. So I came to a stop(I was avoiding stops at all costs) and sure enough, here comes this truck on my driver's side with a police style block off in front of me(I was eyeing a ditch to take off thru if I needed to). Windows go down, 2 bald headed dudes inside....asked me where I got it from which made me suspicious...then the driver said that he sees them in Costa Rica and wants one. I'm sure thy were undercover or something but they really freaked me out.

I'm not sure those guys were law enforcement but I'm thinking they were. There are a lot of undercover guys around this area.

Confirmed tax dollars in action were when some port authority K9 guys followed me around when I was hauling this(floating dock cubes)....even I would have followed it if I had seen it.

Anything new with this project?

Not too much new with the project cruisermatt.....I've been driving it and loving every single second of it. At about 9100 miles on it now.....all has been great. Had a AC line spring a leak at a crimp fitting a while back but that's been it. Out of all the cars I've been in and around over my many years dealing in really cool stuff, this truck is the best. Yes, I'm biased. To this day, every time I walk out to a parking lot and see it, I say to myself, "holy crap, a 79 series". Total geek. People ask a lot of questions....I had a guy jump out of a truck the other day, while sitting in traffic and snap pics at a light. I have a lot of clients from the middle east that love it....whenever they come to the shop it puts a big smile on their faces. One of them said I'm probably Arabic because I like Land Cruisers so much. Ha.

Added some 3M Crystalline 70 tint to the windows(all of them, including the quarter vent windows) last month. The guy doing the tint was trying to find the patterns in his computer....he obviously didn't find them. The tint is amazing. A little on the pricey side but it's virtually invisible(a very very slight blue tint to it). It's great stuff and the heat reduction is amazing. Between that and the Lizardskin we sprayed in it....it's very cool and quiet inside.

No real mods scheduled for it....I have to do a couple of small things to the center console....other than that, it's kind of good the way it is. It's taken a slight backseat to a new project however....something even more unique....

Ran into this couple traveling from France in the US for a year.......super cool truck and very nice people. They passed right by my house as I was pulling out of my neighborhood. I chased them down for about 20 miles as I kept getting caught at lights. Finally caught them and had a great conversation...as much of a great conversation as one could have with what was learned in high school in French class(not much). All of understood Land Cruisers though. They kept telling me that my truck was the first one they had seen in the US....ha.

Totally have been there chasing down other cruisers, haha.

I'm in Orlando, the next time I'm in Tampa I'd love to stop by c2d. Does that mean Concept 2 Design?

Sure....head over to Tampa anytime and stop by the shop. Always some cool stuff in here...

C2D stands for C2 Design.

cool parking lot!

Ha. That is a cool parking lot....except for that Jeep Grand Cherokee. Looks like the Cruisers far out number the Jeeps though(there's a FJ45 that you can barely see).....

Not a bad collection of all the toys inside either

Nah...the good stuff is outside.

Torn between making a custom bumper for a winch or keeping mine. I'm digging the all stock look for now though. If I could find one of those winch bumpers in the US, I'd do that though....keeps it nice and stock looking. No chrome though. Ever.

Here are photos of a 79 with a Warn put into the OEM bumper, with modifications.

Do they allow pictures like this on MUD? I thought this was a family webpage???

You should really warn people of the explicit pictures like this or move this pornography to another site!!!

Found a couple of cool pics with a customer's 2016 Tacoma that we did a pretty big build on......it's now in Qatar playing in the sand. Tacoma is on 34" tires with a 4.5" long travel lift...interesting to see how the 79 sizes up to the Taco and how they both size up to the 45.
