There is a big ole pot hole full of muddy water in your neighborhood that can't wait for you to get through. :D

Amazingly enough, my employees know of this exact muddy water you speak of....it's funny how often my FJ45 comes back a little more dirty than when it left to deliver/pickup parts......

Pretty solid week of work on the truck but not much got done......got the air cleaner from the 80 mounted in the engine compartment....need that so we can get the piping laid out for the air cleaner to throttle body(would like to order all the bends and silicone next week). The usual order of brackets and clips from Toyota...this week for the throttle cable. Front end went on for mockup(mostly for me to stare at)...going to try and do radiator stuff next week I think...probably think about AC lines too...I'm sure a few will have to be changed around. Ordered up a whole pile of mandrel bends, v-band clamps, hangers, etc. so I can run the remainder of the exhaust. Everything is lining up really nicely under the truck....should be pretty easy to run the exhaust now as there is plenty of clearance....building the downpipes were the biggest challenge.

Had the headers thermal coated....they'll be on for good on Monday.

I am struggling here with the image of the headers. Of course they are awesome. I hope to someday see something like that in my shop. But the clean stainless countertop -- without any clutter or piles of parts on it. I can guarantee you that will never be "seen" in my shop.

Seriously, great work. Love seeing your updates.

Are those EMS Powered headers or did you fab them yourself? I'd recommend a bigger muffler if you go with EMS stuff, awesome equipment but the 1FZE sound doesn't lend itself to free flowing exhausts very well :frown: Here's mine:

Tucker.....thanks for the info. Not running EMS on my rig. I'm doing my own exhaust due to the 70 series fender, the body mount we built and the way I need to run the exhaust, custom was the only choice. I plan on running a very big Magnaflow(pic of it in an earlier post) and a 200 cell cat. It's a 36" stainless exhaust....no chambers, just perforated. I'm hoping that it keeps the truck quiet. Also running a 200 cell cat. I probably will add a resonator somewhere in the system too(maybe towards the rear of the system.....near the tail pipe). I want a quiet truck but one that flows, thus the flow thru Magnaflow. We'll see I guess.

2fpower.....all of our worktables(not our welding table) and our boxes are stainless....along with the walls, the stairs, the railings, the utility carts, the roller tables.....you get the point. It's like an operating room for cars AND no place for clutter to accumulate. The fancy cars and customers that we cater to like it like that...and so do I. My employees....not so much. I've become an expert at cleaning stainless over the last 10 years. Thanks for following the build....

Your truck might actually "accelerate" where most 75 Series just "slowly gather momentum". :)

Ha.....when I drive customer trucks with the 1FZ, I'm always astonished at how 'fast' they are. I've always had 3FEs or 2Fs. This 1FZ with a supercharger is going to be a real screamer....it least in Land Cruiser land.

Not much progress to report....ran into several walls this week. Had a tough time fitting the radiator/shroud/fan in the truck. Wasn't a problem when we fabbed it all up but I went ahead and decided a supercharger was a 'necessity' without running it by my lead tech(guy who built the front end)....changed around a LOT of things. We were already dealing with limited space because of the nature of the build......trying to find another 1-2" for the supercharger's pulley system was tough. I think we got it though. Cut down the fan shroud slightly, got that radiator sucked up as far as it could go against the rad support and shaved a tiny bit off the fan blades where they. I will not look forward to servicing the radiator, the fan clutch, water pump, bearings, belts, etc., when that time comes. It will be a major undertaking(removal of the rad support to get radiator out) as the front end will have to come off the truck to access it. Since it's all new, I'm hoping that will be a long, long time down the road.

Modified the 80's air cleaner housing to fit the 79. And again, to fit with clearance for the supercharger(supercharger sure caused a lot of issues...it will be worth it though). Air cleaner really fits well and has a very direct to the snorkel feed. Kind of got lucky on that set up.

Built a one-off automatic brake pedal too....used some of the FJ80 upper pedal and lower pad obviously and a 79 series 5 speed brake pedal. Fits and looks like it belongs....if an automatic belongs in a Land Cruiser that is.

Playing around with the front bumper too.....going to run the OEM one I think for a while. My goal is to have the truck running in 4 months(my birthday). We have a lot of work still ahead, not sure if I want to devote a bunch of time to a custom bumper right now.

Fitting Issues ...... Obviously you have not been introduced to the world of wood shims and duct tape. Two of the greatest inventions ever. :D

Did we forget about baling wire???? You know it comes in stainless... :grinpimp:

I did consider bailing wire but I didn't want to appear to be a "know it all." :)

There are a few shims on the truck.......not the wood type though. No bailing wire.....yet.

An ARB style bumper will look good on that thing.
That stick under the OEM bumper will be an issue when crossing a railroad track. :)

Hey Firdosh.....your 4 door 79 is going to be what I'm going to do next I think...I love that bed you did. It's the perfect truck in my opinion. Not so sure I'm ready for another 79 project just yet but I will be someday.

Thanks alot buddy. Was alot of had work but well worth it :)

We'll build a bumper close to one of these....I'll probably put a winch in there as I have plenty of room to mount one.....obviously I'll want to build around that. I think I'll run a set of round LED driving lamps too. Some of this latest gen LED stuff is incredible. Just did a set of 10 watt driving lights in a Heep(Vision X-off Road)....they're intense. Now they have 20 watt ones.

This is the leading contender.....and I think I'm in love with this truck. Since my truck will run fender extensions, I will want the bumper to run flush to them. Perfecto.

Might need to go with an exo-skeleton too.....maybe one painted white.

The trays move a bit when off road , maybe cause cracks through the front fenders
Or just go all out like this 75 I seen the other day
