Made some progress on the build....I believe we will be able to slip the motor and trans into the chassis and then pop the cab on so we can start with assembling interior/engine compartment, hooking up brakes, etc. Easy stuff. We shot the underside of the cab with Upol Gravitex today...neat stuff, easy to work with. Hopefully it will hold up. The underside of the truck was pristine...we cleaned, scuffed, shot it with the Gravitex. Really easy. Looks very uniform and nice. I wasn't planning on doing the bed but I think I will....no reason not to I suppose.

Motor is done.....lots of time this week for arts-and-crafts so we stripped the blower down, polished the fins, rattle canned it with some wrinkle black and put it all back together.....pretty fancy for a Land Cruiser.

Makes me feel like I should go out and wash my ole truck and clean the engine. :)

It's only going to be clean once.....

Very nice , projects coming along nice.

It's crazy how much room is under the cabs when there is no tank there.

There is a ton of room....I kind of feel bad not making use of it actually. Maybe one day I'll put a tank in there. Not really necessary for the way I'll use the truck now but who knows.

I can sit fully upright on the ground under the truck and not even touch the body with my head. Lots of workspace......

Motor and trans came together....motor/trans went into frame. Cab should get popped on tomorrow...hopefully. Please shield your eyes from the crapbox J**p in the background. A true tragedy that the Land Cruiser has to park next to it....

For sure it does....that Ford GT(hard to make it out in the pic) is one incredible of a machine. In the front right corner of that pic is a Mercedes CLK63 Black Series....another one that is just as outstanding as that GT.

Cab went on early today....going to pick at the motor wiring harness, fuel line connections, master cylinder/brake lines...maybe start thinking about the exhaust routing once the fenders are on....

You would think a shop as well equipped as yours would have a tarp that you could throw over that Jeep. It really distracts from your thread. :D

Lol....we only have one tarp and it's covering my FJ45LV project.

I had to move the Heep today....it was too hard to look at my truck and see that mess next to it. With it gone, I can see my 79 from my office now too....bonus.

what kind of shock absorber did you bought? /as operation/ one side or two side?

sorry my bad english.

OME shocks from SLEE Offroad....springs are stock....going to run that set up first to see how it does.

I'm trying to do 2 builds simultaneously.....the LV and the 79. Not so easy. The LV isn't going to be a terribly involved build so it should go easily. I'm doing the same basic build I did on my 45LPB so there won't be much mystery as to what we're doing. Just takes lots of $$$.

Fantastic build! I absolutely love the wheel and tire combo.

Hey Firdosh.....your 4 door 79 is going to be what I'm going to do next I think...I love that bed you did. It's the perfect truck in my opinion. Not so sure I'm ready for another 79 project just yet but I will be someday.

Finished running the harness for the motor this week. Had the rear driveshaft extended.....balanced the front, replaced a couple of u-joints. Should be good to go.

Got to work on the exhaust system....finished the downpipes, the rest will be pretty easy. Merging the 2 dowpipes into a 3" collector then into a 3" 200 cell cat....over the frame and into the straight thru stainless Magnaflow(went with the longest one they had...36")....I don't want the truck to be loud so I may add a resonator in there somewhere. Didn't want a chambered exhaust either....this seemed like a good starting point. I'm going to make the system modular with v-band clamps. Easy to remove or get out of the way should I need to....makes it nice to install too. I'll ceramic coat the headers and probably do the downpipes in thermal black to hide them in the wheel well a little bit. I tried to tuck them up in there the best I could(they look way more tucked in person).....it's kind of a mystery as to how this truck will settle out with it's springs(using the stock FZJ80's for now). Maybe a set of no lift OMEs which should be good for another 3/4" over the tired FZJ80s. I'll figure that out later I think. I have to be really careful....the truck is approaching the height of my garage opening at my house. Can't leave this thing outside...

So next week we'll finish the exhaust and weld up all the pieces....maybe get to work on the fuel tank cradle.....then we start to move inside I hope. Had to order a few heater related pieces this week(valve). I'd like to get the front end together next week to start sorting out condenser placement, trans cooler, final radiator placement, fan stuff, blah, blah, blah. Just when I think I'm making progress I start thinking about the seemingly never ending remaining stuff.....kind of fun.
