Kevin do you know how much taller the 2F block is than the 3F block? Would the shorter 3F block helped with clearance of the brake booster? Main reason I'm looking for a fuel injectioned engine is to mate to the A440F so the better half can drive it. She doesn't have a lead foot by any means. If the 3FE is a easier conversion that might be the way to go.

As for a FJ40 ever being done I'm hoping to get there. My latest is very close to stock and would like to bring it closer to stock. But if your going further from stock it's will never be done. Bought my 68 in 1974. With in a month I had a floor shifter and rollbar added. Since then there is always someting I wanted to do.

Haven't measured, have heard, ~2-2.5"? Don't know that it would help with the clearances? On an earlier rig, without power brakes, just leave the booster off until the motor is in, then put it were it fits and move the rod mount point over on the pedal.

A "few" more details to attend to, like a couple of wire connections to tidy up?:hillbilly:
Not to worrry, Jim. We're gaining on it. Well, sort of. We pulled this much out of the dash today, and now it looks like this, but we still need to put this much more back in, if we can figure out how:bang:

What the mechanic really meant to say was:  "Employing great amounts of fabrication skills and large quantities of blood, sweat, tears, flesh, and time, the aforementioned assembly has been made to fit with a reasonable likelihood of long and fruitful service." :hhmm: Actually, it's the SCHIZZL!!

This looks amazingly stock, well done.
THIS has been a priority all along. Been fun/challenging trying to find/source all these parts from a variety of years and models then fit them together and make them work right.

Did I say fun? Hey Kevin, what the hell is this wire for??????

make a wiring diagram as you go along

I do not think that is the first time they heard that... ;)

Mostly wiring to the '88 FJ62 diagram, taking notes, modifying the diagram to reflect the changes.

Been doing stuff, but not taking many pix. So, more random, disjointed pix!

That looks like the good stuff! It's a good thing Mark wasn't there, the paperwork pile would have been huge?:hillbilly:

It's shafted and exhausted!

As usual Arizona (Mesa) Drive Shaft did a great job, retube in heavy wall, no balance weight!

I was a little embarrassed about my welding on old, rusty muffler pipe skillz, till I looked at what the pros previously did! Anyway, cleaned that stuff up.

Made a down pipe using parts of the '62 exhaust. It uses all stock flanges, seal donuts, O2 sensor bungs, etc. Made a solid tab to bolt the collector to the bell housing.

In the last pic, the .5" spacer can be seen under the bell housing mount, this pushes the rear of the motor over for clearance.

The 3/8" spacer tacked to the driver side mount arm to tip the motor to passenger.
