Lastly are you planning on doing more 2FE conversions?

Would like to see it run before it heads back south.

Having watched this quietly for the last 2 months, I would say "maybe:hhmm:, but not happily:censor:..."

And the rumor is the beast will take up residence locally:D

Couple of questions. Do you plan on putting a skid plate to protect that fuel filter and pump? The original owner of my 68 built and installed a skid plate just for the change over valve on the two tanks. One of the few things he did right.

At this point, no, don't think it will need one? The drive shaft will be right next to it and hang lower. That viewpoint may change as we get further along.

What is the increas in fuel pressure with fuel injection?

Depending on running conditions, ~40psi.

Lastly are you planning on doing more 2FE conversions? This look like a nice setup for my FJ45 that I plan on using a A440F power robbing dog in so the better half can drive it.

This is coming out very nice. Would like to see it run before it heads back south.

At this point,,, NO!:hillbilly: Earlier today, we had doubts about the motor fitting in the truck, now it's sitting in there, looking good.

That view is also likely to change. It has been more work than we thought, but a lot of it has been figuring out how to do it, if we were to do it again, would be quicker/easier.

Still a big job, like Carl has commented several times; do you really have to mod every part?! Pretty much, but a lot of it is the mod policy that we are going by. For example, it would have been much quicker to cut the fitting off of the water pump, thread in a fitting and run 1/2" hose to the thermostat housing. But, if the water pump failed, the new one would need to be modified. As much as possible, are using stock parts and 2F on the bottom, 3FE on the head, in an attempt to simplify future repairs. Attempting to confine mods to hard parts, that are not likely to ever need replacement or really easy stuff, like hoses.

not so closely related to a tractor anymore, eh ? :hillbilly:

Don't know, haven't driven it? My guess, it will still be a torque monster, even more so, yep, still a tractor motor.:hillbilly:

I took a few teaser pics with the iPhone Tuesday afternoon, just for fun - thought I'd post 'em up. First, it fits, almost. Some minor adjustments required for interference issues. And, the hood closes so its almost ready to drive!

Drivers side fwd motor mount. Need to slightly reposition so the intake plenum would clear the brake booster. As I understand from talking to Kevin this morning, all motor mounts wound up slightly modified for proper positioning. I just got a kick out of the monster washer mod, which apparently is no longer there.

I used a couple of washers like that when I went to a four speed in my68. Doing this help the transfer case clear the floor on the pre 73 FJ40s. Not I wondering if I have room to install a Fairey Overdrive and clear tube behind the trasfer case?

Are you still using the 78 FJ40 bell housing with the rear motor mounts? I have asked the question in the 40/55 section would be okay to use those mounts with the split case and most said not. I don't know way not. You can use four speed transmission, one piece trasfer case, PTO and Fairey Overdrive off those mounts without issue. Can't see the split case weighting more than the one piece case, PTO and overdrive.

Oh my gawd. Spaghetti from hell! Hope you have a lot more patience than I.

A "few" more details to attend to, like a couple of wire connections to tidy up?:hillbilly:

I may rethink this 2FE conversion thing. I have a few FJ40 wirings harnesses and I believe most of a 89 FJ62 wiring harness and it didn't look that scary.

Note to self don't take wirings harnesses apart.

That is what is left of the FJ62 main harness after we weeded what we need out of it, in other words, the leftovers.:hillbilly:

Never thought those were the wires you planned on using. So are you using mostly using the 78 harness and adding parts off the FJ62 harness?

Yep, using the stock bell housing and mounts. Agree, don't see any reason not to?

Correct, the '62 EFI/engine part is a stand alone harness, needs little modification. A harness needs to be made to supply power to the ECU, connect to the AFM, fuel pump, etc. We stripped that part out of the '62 main harness, will be adding some of the other/existing accessory wiring (CB, Lights, etc) and bundling it into a single harness.

Decided to pull the tank and replace all of the lines. Good thing we did, the ones at the tank were very dry, crunchy.
