It's arts and crafts day in the garage. Working on the shortened fiberglass top cap.
So far, the drip rail has been shortened, cleaned up and painted. The fiberglass cap has been cut down and the edges are ready to go.
I have seam sealed between the cap and drip rail then riveted the two together.

Damn. You get more done in the time I'm just trying to figure out what to do next.

Attached the 2 pieces with small blocks of wood and some screws. Now the pieces are held in the same plane and flush. I add some masking tape to keep the resin from leaking out the other side. Then I applied the resin and layers of fiberglass matt. I did 4 layers. Now it's dry time aka nap time in front of the book tube.....lol

First layer of filler down, sanded and primed. The joint looks great compared to the rest of the top.....
I am not going for perfect. Gonna touch up a few spots with filler then sand and paint. The inside will get the same treatment. A few layers of white Rustoleum and it should look alright.

Amazing brother! What you have done is nothing short of extraordinary 👍😁

Thanks for the props. It was tough build but worth it now that it's mostly done.

@tucker74 funny you mentioned the gray carpet. I was thinking about possibly using that as a headliner.

I decided against installing the top and headache rack for now. I wanna wheel it top less and fold the windshield down. It's a fun way to travel the back roads. I will get the doors finished and buy the rest of the needed weather stripe then install once it cools off here in AZ.

Finally got to take the fake 45 out for some mountain forest wheeling. I made some bump stop extensions the night before to make sure there would be no issues. Success....it rode good and no rubbage.
I forgot to make the slots bigger on the windshield hold down hooks, so no window down driving.
It was still super fun. My giant straw hat helped keep the sun off. Good times
