I dig that blacksmith shop. Being a knifemaker it's always cool to see old school shops like that.

Added some d ring tie downs in the bed. Can't use it like a pickup without being able to secure the load.

Took the fake 45 to the local automotive swap meet this morning. Got a set of bumperettes, license plate light, and antique Chrysler hubcap. Then the guy threw in these 2 Weiand intakes for a small block Chevy.
I will use the bumperettes and one of the intakes on the 1975 40 build.......which is next in line.

About 700 miles so far. I swapped out the fuel filter for a fresh one. There was some gunk in the old one. I also added a stiffer throttle return spring to solve the occasional high idle hang up.
Test cruise proved both items made an improvement.

I keep hoping to see your girl with her top on, (said no dude ever, except the dudes waiting to see jack’s bad Ass build with its top on).

Swapped some longer shackles on the rear. Bummer is I had to cut off the tailpipe. I use a hose clamp to temporarily give it some support after the muffler since I removed a hanger. I will redo the pipe and make a proper tailpipe turn down later.
Going to the desert tomorrow to explore some old mine sites. This will probably be the roughest and longest trip for this truck. Should be fun.

Since the shackles went so quickly.....I modified the windshield hold downs. The ones you get form Toyota these days don't work with the earlier stuff. You need to lengthen the slot in it. So I did.
Looking forward to windshield down driving tomorrow.

Todays run was great. It was one hell of a shake down run. The sand in the wash was total wash board and shook the crap out of the truck. Pretty sure nothing fell off.
Anyways, we explored a remote abandoned mine site that once had a large smelter. Lots of cool rocks and some old iron too.

Very jealous of your area, able to explore and actually use these rigs for what there made for! Here in california, you go off road( if possible!) and you might get arrested!!! I have ridden my dual sport bike in nevada( bodi) mono lake area, old abandoned town and mine sights! Really love the old history!

We are pretty spoiled, for now, with all the open land. I am also a history buff, so I learn of many of these locations thru reading about Arizona mining history. It's crazy to imagine the people craving out a life in these remote places. Plus it's great to find old sites that are rarely visited.

How are the teeth? 😝

I think the rear lift springs and the longer shackles worked out. Wheel is positioned nicely in the wheel well opening. No noticeable rubbing anywhere either. Ride is alittle stiffer but not bad.
Now it's time to go get some firewood and load this thing up.

You getting firewood to weight the springs down to break them in? I know Maricopa county "NO BURN" days is about 99.9% of the days in a year. Even Flagstaff has no burn days now. Probably head up north and cut some more oak. Coconino National Forest it's $20 four cords of hard wood. Want to burn pine it's $20 for eight cords. What National Forest are you cutting firewood. Don't believe firewood cutting is allowed on State Trust Land?
