Man, that chemical guys total interior is my favorite do-it-all for inside detailing. Is it weird that I love the way it smells? have I maybe started using it inside my house for certain things

I've brought it inside sometimes too. haha. I love chemical guys stuff. Have you tried the Honey Dew snow foam wash? I get neighbors stopping by to ask about it cause it smells so goodMan, that chemical guys total interior is my favorite do-it-all for inside detailing. Agreed. I'll leave it as is. I actually need to clean up the interior thermometer, it's got some gunk. I wonder if that affects the performance of the auto controls.Yeah I think that will let you disable the auto capabilities. I like them though!
Pretty sure that corrugated white tube needs to connect to the back of this thermometer.Agreed. I'll leave it as is. I actually need to clean up the interior thermometer, it's got some gunk. I wonder if that affects the performance of the auto controls.

Your heart is telling you right !Continuing to clean up the interior and get ready to install a few things.

Removed a couple unused switches. Does anyone know anything about the stock adjustable shocks? I haven't been able to dig up much on them and I'm sure they were thrown away many years ago. Interesting though

Tracked down the source of the weird smell I'd get a whiff of sometimes. Looks like the ashtray was well used, and it smells like someone used something to try to mask the odor. Funky

Just curious - does anyone know what this empty white tube behind the HVAC does?
![]()
It ends at this piece to the left of the steering shaft.

And another potentially stupid question - what's this A - M switch on the back of the HVAC controls? I couldn't find anything on it online. I assume Auto - Manual?

Might as well throw in a new head unit at this point.

Finally, popped out the clock in prep for the Lutz Auto multigauge. I need to run wires through the firewall and hook it all up.

Nice, how do you like it?
I chose the frankfurt because it is a RHD and the prev/next button is on the right. Overall its great ! Mated it with a storage compartment Amazon product ASIN B000281WCUi was able to build something nice. A little bit of trimming is required on the radio factory trim. Bluetooth works great, phone also works great. However, a diesel hdj81 is noisy and shaky and it is not great at highway speeds for the mic.Nice, how do you like it?
Yeah my truck is too noisy to bother with hands-free, especially with 35s and a 3" exhaust - I might just skip the mic.I chose the frankfurt because it is a RHD and the prev/next button is on the right. The Rosen sun shades are in the aircraft that I fly for work, not a fan at all. Not enough coverage and definitely not enough tint. I hope those that you have work out well.Wrapped up the carpet cleaning tonight. Wild how much dirt was coming out of it via the extractor. And if I were to do it again, I'd remove the jute underneath first, that stuff is like a sponge.

There were two holes in the front part of each wheel well. On the passenger side, the glow relay was previously mounted there. I wanted to seal it up to keep dirt and water out so I dug through my spare nuts and bolts and found a set of 4 that worked well.

I had new sun visors way down my list of priorities as the old ones were cracked at the mounts and sagging. I saw Rosen was having a sale and free shipping a while back and couldn't help but pick up a set.

I'll have to get better pics in the daytime but very well-built quality pieces.

I also grabbed a pair of Solvefunction sun visor clip delete plates as well.

With all those panels out, I am really surprised to see you aren't slapping in sound deadening and insulation. Made a seriously huge difference in mine, I did floor and doors (Kilmat + noico insulating foam)Yeah my truck is too noisy to bother with hands-free, especially with 35s and a 3" exhaust - I might just skip the mic.
Good to know. We'll see how these do. The size isn't too much smaller than OEM and if the tint isn't enough the panels will be easy to pull off and tint. The Rosen sun shades are in the aircraft that I fly for work, not a fan at all. This has been why I didn't pick them up yet. Wondering if an extra layer or two of 5% would be the ticket.

Yeah man I went down the sound deadening rabbit hole last week for probably 4 hours. I had a bunch of dynamat in the cart but gave up. Too many conflicting opinions about floors vs doors, heat turning the adhesive into goop, etc etc.
You've been happy with your setup?
So, while I am waiting for my new bottom cushions in the mail, I got a wild hair and started sound deadening the rear cargo area.

Tips for anyone doing this...
- Oddly enough I didn't read this anywhere... you NEED to tape if you are going to be installing carpet (so, anywhere horizontal really). When the interior gets hot the butyl rubber will squeeze out the sides and will stick to your carpet and make a mess.
- Go buy the aluminum foil tape from hardware store of your choice, it's cheaper, literally the same stuff, and you will need a lot of it.
- Work the matt into the ridges well or peel back the paper as you stick it down, if you lay it too tight when you press it in it will tear and will require taping
- save your odd shaped cutoffs and add them in the gaps that are big enough... you'll cover it with tape later
- Dynamat is nice for the wheel well areas in the front, but so far I think the killmat is a lot easier to install and way cheaper than dynamat. The texture makes it easier to cut straight free hand and the smaller pieces out of the box are a lot easier to work with (although it does mean taping more...)
I should do this.. Agreed on the factory sound deadening, I spent a whole day with some dry ice removing it from a track car. Never again. hahaThere is definitely something to be said about which type you use, all the research I did suggests that Dynamat (butyl rubber type in general) is the way to go as long as you clean the surfaces, foil tape the seems, and do a good job of rolling it all down.
I used Kilmat (same type of material as Dynamat, a bit lower quality but considerably cheaper, and I think the smaller pieces are easier to use), then I got the ducting foil tape from my local hardware store (It's about 1/3 of the price). Then the layer of Noico foam was real easy to install.
Very happy with mine. I went way overboard and did full coverage with the mat + a big chunk in the middle of the larger panels + the foam (doubled foam in some areas).
I also just covered the factory deadening when I came across it, not sure why folks try to remove that.
I can dig up more pictures if you want.
