My friend Ron and I just drove up hwy 36 right into the path of the fire, and went into the ishi wilderness to get a look at things, we saw the fire come up over hogsback ridge at an alarming pace so we bailed.
Went to Manton, on the other side of 36 directly in the fires path to check on our friend Eliott.
Eliott, cut his goats and sheep loose and was pretty much ready to go when we got there. He's leaving his home and farm and hopefully he has the sense to come to my farm. His sheep and goats will be on their own, I swooped his last hen to come live with mine, and his dogs are in the truck.
This wildfire is unlike anything any of us have ever seen and I've lived here nearly 40 years.
