Just a quick update. I finished up with the remote oil filter and hoses. Came out pretty clean, I think.

I also got the gear reduction starter installed and wired up. I was worried it wouldn't fit since it came off of a 3FE powered FJ80. I even tested out the wiring by successfully turning the engine over. As you can see, there is hardly any room between the starter and firewall.

Lastly, I removed a primitive alarm system that must have been installed in the late 70s. Check out the old 3M Scothlok half tap. This 3M logo was used up until 1977 (I used to work for 3M).

Not yet. Getting there. I still need to install the radiator and a bunch of other little things. I dropped it (radiator) off last week too get tested, cleaned and have the overflow nipple brazed back on.

David,

I like the black -6AN fittings, wish I went with them. Do you think the starter will hit, when the motor torques back and forth?

3M trivia, I love it! :) I bet somebody collects that stuff.

Got these (frame extensions) in the mail today from Kevin (AwlTEQ). They are stout as hell. Can't wait to be able to mount the 8274.

Engine oil. The Mercedes OM617 powered cars had factory oil coolers so I put in an after market one with generic AN fittings.

Here's the Gates hose part number (25307). The Mercedes OM617 side is 1-1/4" and the FJ55 radiator inlet is 1-1/2" (23" long).
