Hey, I think it's moving along at a great pace. I feel good if I just get one thing done every day, no matter how small of a job.

Motor looks good!

Thanks Ron. I am just ready to hear it run again. It has been 20 yrs or so since it last did. The big items of my work left to do are fitting doors, blowing in Raptor on the ceiling and floor, and installing the drivetrain and dash. Someone else will get the privilege of painting and installing the glass! The front end needs an alignment, and the tire/wheel situation is not resolved yet.

Hi, This looks good and was a fun read this morning since Dallas is iced in at 19 degrees ! Nice to see another cruiser staying on the road. You should be proud. Mike

It feels great bolting stuff back on. I think everytime I finish something that I have crossed a major milestone, like the rockers, fenders, installing front clip, building up the engine, etc. I think, every bolt and nut brings me closer to the finish line. The major indicator is the freeing up of floor space in my shop. This week, I hope to have the front seat brackets finished, finishing up the engine, clutch, tenant, and t case assembly, and FINALLY, the install into the pig. If I am productive, we will have the Raptor blown in the ceiling and floor finished also. I am hoping that. Y the end of the week, I am getting very close to start up time on the engine! ....even though it will be at least until 2 more weeks before I will have he header installed, etc....it is getting exciting!

Go to install the clutch and tranny/T-case today........had torque wrench on pressure plate set at 35 lbs. Broke a bolt.......does everyone else have these kind of problems????

I'd rather break it off w/ the torque wrench than grenade a clutch!

Tell me about it. Well, at least it will have new bolts in a couple of days. Machine shop says that it will be ready tomorrow.

On another note, I sent off the rear seats for recovering today. When they are back, we will likely be ready to blow the Raptor in the ceiling and floors. Today, I painted the heater box, and tested the heater motor....non working. So, great, another project. Next to go in are the dash components. This thing is almost ready for paint....almost. So that means 90% finished and 50% to go.

Notice the seat rails welded in. The new buckets are adjustable to under the dash to in the back seat. Long range of adjustment that should accomadate just about anyone.

Now, I have got to be thinking about the rubber kit....I hate the idea of $2200 for it....anyone solved that problem yet?

Today got the flywheel, clutch, transmission/T-case all hooked up. Will post pics tomorrow. We are close to installing in the rig. Still have to get a header tube repaired, the header powder coated, and the rocker assembly on. I got a quote today of $1600 plus paint for single stage two tone paint. Is that a good deal? I will be blowing the ceiling and floor with raptor, and the dash has already been painted. The list is getting whittled away!

think it all depends on what type of prep work they will be doing. I'd pull the front fenders off and apart so both sides can be painted along with the engine bay.

I've never personally paid to have a car painted. The pig I just purchased 3 months ago had a 8k paint job that was done by the PO. Down to bare metal, primer and single stage paint. (Its show quality IMHO).

For something that will eventually rust think 1600 is pretty good.

I had all of the fenders and undersides rust treated, and then under coated. I also did the same thing to the inner fenders and firewall. It will take a long time for this beast to rust like it was! There is not much body work left on the pig, mainly just a few dents on the roof and the front fenders.

A shop that "quoted" similar stipulated "cash only" for monotone white.

They also asked if I'd be interested in "llamas" as I stood next to the counter that was veiled in a collection of dingo balls.

Oddly enough, there were several vehicles there with paper plates from a well known local dealer...

Then I am going with Chris's shop! Paper plates sold it on me.

Se habla enough espanol to say Toyota Blanco, cuando dinero?, que teimpo finito?.

I've been told $2k on the low end to $8k for high quality, all the way up to $15k for a show car finish.

In keeping with a true restoration theme, knowing what I know about Toyota's lackluster paint quality, it'd only be accurate with a lesser end finish to replicate "OE". Hahahaha.

Ha, a llama threw up on my daughter when she was 10. Not sure a goat would do that!

I think an OE finish would require that one use paint of inferior quality and applied to a poorly prepped surface....in keeping with early 70's workmanship. I want a durable finish that will not fade in one summer. I am going for the sea foam greenish and cream look. I think, anyway. Still at least a month off, but I am thinking about it.
