I never knew Llamas meant flames, in Spanish. I need to get off the farm more.

Yeah, no flames. All that work, you want it looking good, at least for awhile.

One of our Llamas really hates my Wife. She can't come closer than twenty feet from her and she starts spitting. :) I swear, I didn't train it.

Spitting llama that is trained.....I could see that coming in handy. Maybe Delancy could go and try to register it when he picks up his title.....

Midgainc,

Back in post 329, it looks like you taped off the back side of the flywheel housing where it will contact the transmission.

It looked like this was the case originally on the 2F+4speed setup I am working on. When I painted my flywheel housing I did not tape that area off because I couldn't figure out why they did that (read: lazy).

I still haven't installed the tranny so I could remove the paint if there there is a good reason to do so. Since you put in the extra effort to tape that area off, I'm wondering if you might know why they did that.

Actually, my bell housing is powder coated and the PC guys taped it off. The reason is because on most engine/tranny mating surfaces, the tolerances are so close that paint will not fit. The pins on the bell housing that go into the block, especially so. So, don't give me credit for doing it. The PC guys deserve that. I am certain they have learned this the hard way. If you just have paint, it probably will not be an issue and will slide off where needed. You may have to clean out the crack though.

Another thing...you will want some help when you put these together. I am guessing that combined they weigh between 600-900 lbs and they will not go together easily. I am guessing the pilot bearing having to be pressed on the tranny input shaft is the culprit. It was a pain.

And on this combo, there are no pins like on a sbc, so the paint issue does not involve pins.

Will be fine and won't rust as fast, I did mine the same way with no fitment issues ;)

trans hook up pics. Trans was rebuilt and the t-case was resealed. No paint though. :frown:

It was covered in 3 inches of mud when it was disassembled, so it still looks better than it did!

I forgot about the motor. It's been crazy this week. I hope to pick up on Monday. I have business in Byron around noon. Hopefully, I can swing by after that.

It has been a month to date since the last post here. I have been covered up doing things... like waiting for my shop to dry out and warm up. Yesterday we slid the drivetrain in and hooked up the drive lines. As per the usual, I do one thing and realize two more problems to sove. I noticed that the plug on the alternator was not the same as the old one....so it will not match up to the wiring harness. Any ideas?

Also, I realized putting the rocker back on that there is a groove on the pivot shaft that the bolts MUST no exception align with in order to reinstall it. I have the intake ready, and I picked up the header from the powder coater yesterday. I also dropped off the seats yesterday. Once it is running and the tailgate is installed, it will be heading to the paint shop. Getting close.

and a few more pics.

NOTICE THE BUSTED LOWER T-STAT HOUSING. I had J-B welded it before it was powder coated, and it did not hold up when I drilled it out to accept the bolt.

ANY IDEAS?

I am busy trying to get my internals all set on the tailgate. I am planning on using this as a replacement for the cardboard junction block in the tailgate. Do you see any reason not use it?
