Installed pistons, plasti-gauged rod bearings, applied assembly lube, retorqued, installed cam

Equally loved using the single piece 3.80” ring compressor and the asymmetrical dead blow from Summit to tap the pistons in.
The 1/2” drive degree gauge took a little getting used to but ended up doing what it was designed to do. Worked fine for me after getting it loosened up.

Stopped because the gasket kit doesn’t come with a cam thrust plate seal. Gonna have to get one of those along with a set of lifter guides and dowels for the heads.
Here’s some pics from the process.

The 1/2” drive degree gauge
That’s new to me, never seen one.

Glad to see it coming together, always something to hold up a project.

New tools are the fun part for me
Time to get rid of those wood handle ball peen hammers and get a few dead blow ball peen hammers, this is the US company that makes several of the rebranded "tool truck" hammers. They used to run specials a couple times a year with deep discounts, something to keep in mind if you plan to buy several.

You know I like to hit all the things with hammers and these are my favorites!

I would like to take an engine apart and reassemble.
That’s easy, I did one in 7th grade...ever running again after took a few more years though :slap:
