Today was my final drive of my HJD80R Multivalve. She'a heading interstate to make room for the 55 coming home at the end of the year.
It's a sad day but the show must go on.

With my 55 project not expecting to be back home until Christmas, I found myself wondering what to do in the mean time.

The answer, front cut 55 into a trailer.
I have the prefect donor. Just need to pull the engine out.

Sorry for the long time between drinks lads. Auto sparky is in the final stages of the FJ55 diesel conversion. Having a few issues with the glow plugs and earths.

So in that time I was able to snag these new plates.
An ode to the 40.

Howdy all! Sorry it's been a few months between drinks. Not much action has been undertaken on both the 55 or the trailer, however I've always got my eye on progress.

I was able to find some 16" Wheels I had on my 80 series. However covid is restricting me currently to pick them up.

The month of November marks when my Auto Sparky will be finished and my Rust Repairs will be repaired in the A Pillars and Roof.

Heres hoping for a finished Christmas Present back in my driveway.

What kind of temperatures do you all have for Christmas?

Last few years have been upwards of +43*c (~110*F). Great weather for a BBQ and a few schooners of neck oil.

In my travels my mate's 13BT had been making a horrible squeeling noise. Now this motor has 400,000km. So after a few sanity checks of Belts/Pulleys we noted that the Turbo Impella was on the way out.

So out goes the old CT26 and in goes the new one. Quick days work. Fired it up, only for the squeal to return.

Few more checks and determined the Water Pump was the culprit.

Todays the big day.
After weeks of fault finding my starting issue in the 2H Diesel it came down to a few cracked glow plugs.

Kicked it over and gave a big helping of 'start ya barsted' and it fired up perfectly!

Even sorted out a replacement factory numberplate holder.

Now off to rust repairs.

Well that would be a disappointment!
Does that mean that the turbo is good?
I have a different rig (not Toyota) w/ an intermittent squeak. I have replaced the tensioners and pulleys to no effect. I do wonder if it is the water pump...

Thankfully the effort we put in wasn't wasted. Rear impella and bearings were shot. The noise we were chasing was the Water Pump and Idller pulley.

Took a day out yesterday to celebrate my upcoming 30th birthday. The Prado handled the tracks without any issue.

Having never wheeled an Automatic Vehicle was strange, let alone with Centre/Rear diff locks, Traction control and Crawl Control.

Makes me consider putting an Auto or Reduction Gears in the 55.

Our FJ Cruiser had the same tech and it does make things more comfortable and enjoyable. Auto frees up a hand for amber hydration.

Good to see the trees greening up, looks like a good day out.

Wheeling an auto is great! At cruiser park I had a heap more control in the auto uzj100 on muddy descents than those in manuals. The other end of the scale is racing high tides +storm surge on Fraser Island.. the v8 on song and auto went a long way to make sure we werent gonna get stuck.
