G'day all!
After stalking around the threads I've decided to start this thread.
I've been hooked on FJ40 / FJ55s since being invited to the Australian FJ40s meet in Victoria's "High Country" names O.C.K.A (Old Cruisers Kicking Arse)

- Check the socials for details.

I picked up this all original - factory rusted - FJ55 a few months ago sitting on a farm after the owner couldn't figure out some issue.
After a firm handshake it was at my property to start work on.

The second photo is after a few modifications.
= 60 Series Front Hubs with Discs onto FJ55 Diff.
= 60 Series P/Steer (55 Steer Uni, 60 Intermed Shaft, 60 Box, 75 Steer Arms onto 60 Hubs)
= 75 Series F/R Suspension w/ Extended Shackles. 150mm R/Perch spaced back. Total 190mm Lift.
= Original Carby and Airbox. Came with a poorly tuned Holley 350.
= HZJ78 Troopy Split Wheels (235/65-R16)
= Swivel Hubs, Bearings, Brake Boosters, Clutch Cylinders and all the essential stuff.

Hoping to make some headway with this to meet the 2019 OCKA meet.

I've had this project for about 3 months. Doing what I can before I sunk my time into the rust.
I'm glad to say I didn't jump in as I've just picked up two more piggys.

Both painted white.
One with a good cab and no motor.
One with rusted cab and a Turbo 2F and 5 speed.

So the big question is, What to build?

Just searched on this last week. Mud member Mace has had a similar setup on his for like 15 years now. They call it “draw through” because the fuel mixes with the air before the turbo, then goes through the turbo and intake to the cylinders. Kinda strange, but was an aftermarket option that the Aussies came up with.

Delancy bought a barn door setup and found out the body is made different and it would take a lot of fab work. he might still have them.

That's right. I like to live life dangerous.

This Carby I found out after asking a few questions on the 40 Series Landcruiser Owners page on FB is from an Old Jaguar/Holden called the 175CD Stromberg. Similar principle to an SU Carby but with a Diaphram to regulate the AFRs as to the SU which uses a Piston.

The donor car coming back to the property.
Originally owned by the Australian Rural Fire Services down in Victoria. Painted White.
Note the old man visor.

A ex-Government rig? How cool is that?!! Is that the one with no engine but better body ?
That's right RUSH55.
So far the plan is to put the following parts into the good cab;
-Turbo Motor and 5 Speed
-HZJ75R Suspension.
-60 Disc Braked Diffs F/R

The body is in far better condition of the cab without the engine.
So safe to say, We may transfer Engine/Gearbox/Trans into that.

That's the plan anyway, rust permitting.

That turbo setup is wild even by my standards.. What carb is that??

The pane parts are easy, but the sidedraft carb is wonky.. Stromberg???
