I've not kept up with this event...sorry. But yes, I should be able to take the baton up to Mono Lake. Let me catch up on this thread and look at my schedule to be sure. Will get back to this thread in a day or so...and btw I'm in Big Pine which is about 40 miles north of Lone Pine.

Great thanks John! Sorry I had Lone Pine on the brain from my Mt. Whitney hike I did...

My current plans are to head as far north as Palmdale around Oct-8, and as far as Big Pine somewhere around the 18th/19th.

Great sounds like that may work. John is in Big Pine and hopefully can hold the baton for a few days after he gets it from you and then make the short trek up to Mono Lake. Thanks!

I've gotten five replies so far.

Gin keep me updated on this please. I have a flight medic thing in Reno from oct 4-10. So hopefully we dont do this leg during that week. Or if I get deployed to the south from all the weather, cause that would be a bummer too!!!!!!!!!!

So I have this now... is this the right thread for this baton?

Sorry, I haven't been in the 40s section much lately and likely won't read 50 pages to get the back story. Doug and Kyle @PWCO70crusier handed it off to me at 12,525' above sea level on our 40's only Run Saturday with Rising Sun 4x4...

I am hoping to get it up to Wyoming within the next few weeks.

I recognize all three of you guys...but that baton is an imposter!:p

I’m in for the baton BBQ on 9/23.

That's great Seth. Maybe some of the others that have contacted me will post up as well. We will post up more details as the date gets closer.

At this point it's really more of a BYO than anything else. I offered to host a location, bring down a grill, an easy-up, and a cooler to put drinks in. I'm gonna talk with Danny about running over to Costco to buy a package of burgers and buns. If others want to bring stuff to share, it would be good to let me know. If only six people are coming, there won't be any problem. But I have a feeling there will be a lot more than six.

It's all good, but the original plan was to use this thread to plan the routes of all three batons, and then use another thread: Our Travelogue...
to document the actual travel of all three batons.

NOOOOOOOO, I am out of town (Pensacola Florida) for the next few weeks. Don't tell me I am going to miss the Colorado Baton..... AARRRGG.

Cripes Mark, I'm getting old, what did ya'all decide- - -I'm thinking we're having a BBQ at your place on Friday, Sept 22nd. If that's right, what should I bring, some hot dogs, or desert stuff???

It's on the 23rd of Sept at Mark's place. I'm gonna grab some paddies and buns, and probably condiments for that. Dessert will most likely be enjoyed.

Can I come down even though I won't be driving my FJ40? My wife and I will be at our place in Nevada for a while to get my '84 FJ60 back on the road and to bring my '71 FJ40 back to New Mexico for more upgrades. Heck, maybe I'll need a few parts from a certain vendor in Burbank ...

If we have to impose some sort of cap on things, those who post up first should rightfully have preference. When we did the Project Phoenix build for @Land Cruiser Junky we comfortably handled 16 cruiserheads
on the property. So in the back of my mind that is my baseline.
Right now we have:
Me
Ian
@Biscuit
@Dynosoar
@Spike Strip
@FJ60Seth
@Land Cruiser Junky
@Downey
@fjl40

As I posted earlier, I will bring one easy up. But we could definitely use at least one more if not two. And some chairs. I have a couple of good folding tables to put food on, and for folks who like to sit while they eat.

I just realized this came across a little sexist. Y'all are welcome to bring your SO as well.

The wife is out of town next weekend so it will be just me. I'll bring my camp chairs for seating and sodas & water.
