#5 does not bolt to the frame. I got the long arm so I have one swing out. Not sure if he is showing the beefed up hinge bracket he made for me to support the long arm. I didn’t like the ide of those latche hooks in middle of the bumper. I also reinforced the vertical parts with some extra steel I had laying around. I have a few pics in my build thread. I have towed a full 6x12’ uHaul trailer 1,000 plus miles no problem with coastal hitch.
Ah ha! Thanks for chiming in @CO_Hunter ! I hadn't connected the dots but the joints in the swing arm did ring familiar and i"d remembered someone had an issue which resulted in a shoring up and design change.

So how long have you had the coastal rear now? Did you have it when you rolled through here? I was pretty new with my GX then so didn't know much. I keep Looking back at yours and GXO's ARB/IM front bumpers with respect (and longing ;) but I don't remember checking out the back.

You must've gotten it after?

That's a good testament to their receiver, AND your welding...

So, if #5 doesn't bolt to the frame, does it lay adjacent? Do #5 and #4.(back faceplate) essentially box around the rear frame member? I'm just trying to see if it could bolt up, and if so if #5 could be swapped for 1/2" plate cut in the same pattern as the 3/16" template of #5. 🤔🤔

Gears turning, analyzing ya know....

(Just gotta keep the analysis from promoting paralysis ;)
Yes, that was why I put it in the running. The 4x4 labs has the same. We actually cut the back of her frame off to mount it. High and tight!!

@GXO

Lady's rig is looking good!
I'd glanced @4x4labs too, as a DIY kit, but it's a bit too extreme for my needs and $$, the cutting is also a no-go for me.
It DOES look great though!!
🤘

I'm looking forward to how you address the exhaust no. Cut @ axle and down dump, high right side dump behind tire, or something else? Resonator delete?

Thanks gents!

We cut and dumped behind the rear axle (to the passenger rear wheel)

I got it in summer of 2019, after that Moab trip. Been happy with it, swing out has been great since the new hinge bracket. Coastal is great to deal with. Your idea of cutting a larger hole would require you to go inboard from the light cutout and I think you would hit the frame. I‘ll look at it once I get back home in a few days It’s been a while and I just don’t recall how it fits around the frame back there. Seems like it was tight,

You can’t realty see anything once installed due to plate 1. Just judging by what I can see and kinda feel, I’d say #5 is pretty much against the frame.

Ah. I suppose it'd be easiest to mod once it's all in-hand and I can see how it all lays out. Would it make sense to bolt #5 to the frame, if it's basically adjacent?
Hmmm. I guess it wouldn't make sense for that plate to be thicker as it'll probably effect the joints of the other pieces #5 interacts with...

Thanks for checking. 🤙🏼

I don’t think there would be a way to acces that plate to bolt it to the frame as that plate sits on the outside of the rail. Might be worth a call to ask them how the recovery points have held up under hard pulls as I would be surprised if they have not received some feedback either good or bad. I know the strength will depend on weld quality. I have only had really hard pulls on the front of my GX.

Calling? Who does that? LOL

We're having a pretty good back and forth email conversation and either Daniel's gathering more specifics to my detailed questions, or has grown tired of them (no reply for a few days, LOL). He's been responsive and volunteered addition info tips for install I hadn't known of and I'm just a few clicks away from pulling the trigger on my order. 🤙

I think I'd ask for no holes cut for reverse lights (have Prado tails AND stock door reverse light now), but I might want something to break the plane of that rear panel... Hmm...

Looking at the insode image from their instructions it looks like #5 for the GX 470 doesn't interact with #6 (angled piece under bumper), and is just boxed by the bottom, rar and top pieces. #2, #4, #7

I'm nearly 100% in for this bumper, so that's not much of an issue on my side. I'll need to coordinate with the body shop to see if I can take stuff off and look, and if when it's all stripped if I can mount and finish the bumper after they do the body work. Another issue is my bumper skin now compromised on the pass side, so new skin to cut up, or heat gun and massage the old into reasonable shape and fix with epoxy and sanding... or metal fab to fill that piece, @carolinagx has a good version. . . 🤔
I need to get more Prado tails on order too. . .

*EDIT* I overlooked @Bluetribal did his Coastal rear like 5 years ago!! GAH, my Google-fu has gotten poor!
There are a bunch of other Coastal folks in his thread too.

If you ever add Jerry can or spare tire carrier it may block those reverse lights or might make them less effective. Something to think about before you delete the holes.

I've got a plasma torch. 😎

That’s not just 😎, it’s way 😎!

Just get Prado tail lights. You can move the reverse lights out to the housings when you install them. Takes one split and two wires with a repin at the tails. Prados have tires on the door so they come with OEM reverse out on the tails.

Where are you guys sourcing your Prado tails? Anyone have a Toyota P/N? I have a Victory bumper coming with swingouts and need to relocate the reverse lights.

Just an FYI with the smoked tails....I was driving in dense fog a few months ago and got behind a Chevy truck with a similar aftermarket smoked LED taillights (with lots of smaller LEDs for the tail light instead of one big one per side). I could not see the light from his taillights until I came right up on him. I could see the OEM-style tails on every other vehicle just fine.

In clear conditions, those lights probably work fine, but the more numerous/smaller LEDs don't cut through fog/rain like a single large (i.e., factory) bulb does. I had wanted to get the USR Prado-style smoked tails but am now keeping my OEM tails to provide better visibility.

Yes, I've heard of that before, maybe I read it from you here, not sure. I pulled the trigger anyway. I had my buddy drive behind at night , with the single giant led in there they are plenty bright. I like them. Plus I doubled up on the bottom turns. I also put the black chrome OEM up front off a sport, with led bulbs. So far Red, I'm pretty happy with lighting.. If I could "finally" just get my grill.. :)

Copy that, My Victory is slated for early May...
I'm just ebaying these...
Ebayed some just now. Found some used OEMs with the bulb sockets installed, so no need to buy those (since I heard the Prado and GX ones are different). Almost went with the smoked ones BigNick suggested, but in the interest of keeping the rig “legal-ish,” went with non-smoked.

Bumper has been sitting at UPS’ freight partner in Denver for almost a week and no one can tell me why it’s not being delivered. Ugh. Need to get it to a welder to fill in the light holes, then powder coat (probably about time to just buy a welder And do it my damn self!). I guess this gives me time to get the tails installed beforehand.
