I've returned back to owning a Lexus after a few Touareg/Cayennes. Sold my Touareg recently and was looking at another Cayenne TT and came across a decently built up GX470 that was most of the things i'd do anyways. Suspension, solar, battery, baja designs etc. Not sure if PO is on here.

It's been used and has the typical s*** lexus paintand some trail pinstriping. Looking forward to getting cracking on this one. I've run Scheel Mann is all my past vehicles here and that will be first up Vario XXL's. Ordered a MagnaFlow catback this week. After that will be sliders / souring non-nav HVAC / audio upgrade.

First up is paint work and prep to wrap.

My buddy Neil on here owns my old LX470 now.

Love the Cayenne! How has that been to own and maintain?

Looking forward to the Scheel Mann seats. Thats an upgrade I recently found and would consider in the future.

I owned the CTT for a short period. I bought it after selling the Touareg and just didnt fall inlove with it. I bought it only because it had a motor out service last year to the tune of 15K. Before I bought the GX, I was looking at another just a 957 CTT and just realized it was goign to result in the same feelings. Theyre fast but in a old way. Turbos are laggy and then its like **** how do I slow this turd down.

Comparing to my touareg that was all armour'd, bumpers, lights, scheel's it also had center / rear locker and 4:10 gearing the Cayennes 3.56 felt way slower despite not being.

The LX had 4 Scheel's in it, and the Egg had only fronts. That to me is the firsrt thing I do. I've grown so acustomed to the fit of the seats I fit everything else weirdly uncomfortable. ITs not to say the Scheels are more comfortable that a overly cushioned factory seat just that the support and fit me in a way that everything else feels like sitting ina bean bag.

I wish the GX470 could have been optioned with 2nd row bucket seats. I think it makes the third row far more accessible for the kids. Once the offspring count hits 3+ I was planning on getting a 200 series for the extra space but the idea of installing 4 Scheel Mann's in the GX is a cool option. Although I'm not sure the $10k+ price tag would be worth having better access to a tiny third row lol. Did your second row have the ability to slide or where they fixed?

I cant remember If I ran sliders or not on the 2nd row. I think I did. Making the brackets you just make the mount locations to the slider monunts and not the seat mounts.

edit - upon further inspection I dont see the slider adjustment bar.

Ordered up 2 Scheel Mann Vario XXL Klima in Black Leatherette / Cloth Centers + 2 Wide Armrests.

Next up is bofy mount relocation and some 34 / 35 to go with the 4.56 Re-Gear.

And so it begins. Ordered Scheel Mann Vario xxl klima today and brackets. Can’t wait for this addition.

Also ordered a sbe precision products ram ball mount for the AHC switch location since that’s where the RCR-8 is mounted

I hope you post more info on your final decision on tires 34s vs 35s and all the work you did to fit them.

I’m 3/4 of the way there, but hesitating on doing the final changes to do it right.

I think im gonna do 34, and just cab mount reloacte. the rest has already been clearanced and the 4.56 gearing I have is better suited to the 34

I’m thinking the same. I have 4.56 Revolution gears and an 8.2” factory elocked rear differential from a 4R.

285/75R17s seem like would fit my needs better and maybe not worry about the extra stress and mods that 35s require to do it right.

Had decided to sell the GX470 as i wanted another Cayenne Turbo, and had a couple small mechanical (age realted) things pop up before sale and decided to keep it, did some more upgrades to it along the way. Had a mfg issue with the r4t rear bumper, they were great and got a new one made and shipped out at no cost. Jumped to a SnoMaster TR42 fridge, Dog divide / Cargo area

Along the way I started really going in on my vw gti. Cams, clutch, flywheel, brake upgrade, scheel-mann sportline + matching oem rear, audio, limited slip, ring/pinion swap. Went on a weekned cruise up to kernville with a a dozen other dudes from across the US.

Next up for the GX
Icon Billet trailing arms, DrKDSS Panhard relocation.
Recover rear seat in matching scheel-mann fabric
Wrap it

Ordered up Dobinsons LCA / rear UCA, sway bar end links, sway bar relocation, diff drop. Imnot doing jack s*** for offroading so im gonan toss the sway bar back on. Eventually I'll do the apexdesign adjustable links.

You building up fast!

A couple things to consider…

A heavy duty 24 mm rear sway bar from Nolathane really stabilized my swaying in the front which had no front sway bar. It feels like I have 80% of a front sway bar with the heavy duty rear and helps keep tires planted when offroad.

Fixed length, offset, and 1/8” extended Apache Offroad rear links. Super beefy and flexy. Main thing is no adjustment nut to worry about. No maintenance required. Strong metal like a rock slider.

These two made a difference in my flex offroad.

Im pretty much done now. I just mostly use it to get to trails to mtb now and it's about 150% more truck than I need for that so I'll see how having the front sway back on drives as it's easy enough to do.

Im geting some axle binding on hard right turns under acceleration recently (passenger axle is a new CVJ moderate angle CV, Drivers is aftermarket rebuilt with and RCV boots. CV is otherwise fine, so hoping that helps until I can order another CVJ and swap.
