I may utter those words some day, but it'd be of a UZ variety, don't worry.

a toyota land cruiser should have a toyota motor, manual trans, selectable case, and straight front axle-I might argue that it also have 4 leaf springs, but I won't swear by that...;)
all else I believe it is still ok to call a land cruiser, as that is what they will do. clean execution is the key, no? beauty of the beholders eye, if you will

I agree on all accounts but the leafs..... 'cause leafs is for Fords, you silly wanb

(Calm down. It was the best I could do on short notice, and do have a few leafed Cruisers, mind you)

I'm a glutton for punishment, as we're all aware, and have been searching for a new home for my 80 drivetrain.

Well, one thing led to another, and did find a recipient of the 1FZ-FE....but to further your case, forced a manual trans and part time case, which shall remain true to your Cruiser directives....except it'll see coil overs.

That said.....I am pulling an OE diesel out of the thing and swapping for petrol.....

How do ya like me now?

Bahahaha.

All I can say is, I'll wait for you all at the top of the hill! :)

It ain't always about who's the fastest. A story my dad told me as a lad....

Father bull and his young son are posted at the top of the hill, surveying the lush green pastures below, and all the cows therein.

The young bull, jumping up and down, about to pee himself with excitement, says to his senior,

"Dad, Dad!! Let's run down the hill and be friendly, with one of those cows!!"

His dad, still munching on grass, not paying the youngster much attention, raises his head and says

"No, son. Let's walk down the hill, and be friendly with them all."

Bahahahaha.

Realize there's absolutely no relevance, but compelled to regale.

I been tellin that bull story for years...did yoou know andy? MY VERSION IS a bit saltier...

You are correct on the idler bolts!

Where do you have the idler now?

I been tellin that bull story for years...did yoou know andy? MY VERSION IS a bit saltier...

One of the many Delancy-isms told my brother and I in adolescence by my dad, a bit saltier then, too.

I distinctly remember when, as we laughed about years after, being living in Waukesha in 7th and 9th grade, respectively, running late for school dance, Dad the chauffeur.

Dad tells the story and my brother looks at me in astonishment, almost fear, turns back to the front of the car and asks,

"Dad, that doesn't mean you're coming in does it?"

Bahahaha.

lol! haha, good dad.

The idler is bolted to the front hole of the engine mount and then the bracket bolts up in two places to the underside of the water pump.

Ha, I bet your Dad at least thought about it!

See the bolt holes in the motor mount here?

Bolts go through the feet, for lack of better, here, into those holes in first pic.

It's the base of the mount is botched around the actually bolt through the motor mount.

Dunno what the threaded end of the motor are for...

Thanks for putting up those pictures. It looks like I do indeed have the 3FE engine mount on the passenger side, so if I can get an AC compressor bracket, I'll try to get it bolted up!

It looks like the AC bracket is going to sit right on top of the lower radiator hose. Things are going to get tight in there w/ an AC compressor mounted.

Not sure how to address, best, but thinking it'd probably be better to fab a new lower bracket, altogether, rather than space at the bottom.

Takers?

The distance the 2F is taller than the three. Compressor mount has to attach at the lower locations on the power steering pump bracket.

Can see how the lower legs attach to the motor mount here.

View attachment 943314

How far they're off and the real challenge if spacing.

Think I'd lose a fair entry if a solid block could be machined to bolt through the bottom of the motor mount, beveled for the differences in the surfaces, with threaded points to bolt the bracket to?

Other idears?

I'd like to stretch it to fit, but didn't think that's gonna work.

Christa Lancy (sorry, that story was too funny), is that tensioner for a pulley that is not attached to the bracket in the picture?

I am trying to get me a bracket, but it looks different.

Does the AC run a different belt than the PS?

Thanks!

Think the AC runs on it's own belt, altogether, or normally would.

Have two pulleys....not sure which will be used (dunno what fan clears radiator, or what radiator, yet.... :) ) and no smog pump, so haven't a clue.

Expressed as an algorithm:

Looking good. What size tires are those?
