Hey LED guys! What are your thoughts on changing out the bulbs in a Scion T1807 radio that alot of peolpe are swaping their stock radios out for.
Apparently the illumination on it is orange. Would it be possible the put it green bulb(s) to match it with the stock interior?

Post #13 is the Scion unit I am running. It is currently amber. I know it can be done but since I killed my Yaesu playing with the LEDs, I'll wait a week or so. One whoops a week is about my speed.

I just bought one from ebay yesterday, a T1807. Apparently there is no internal Ipod controls on that according to another mudder. So no so enthuiastic about the project now but I am willing to open it up once it arrives and figure out the bulb type for a swap. Hopefully, cutting and soldering isn't involved.

Looks like yours (treerootCO) except the outermost dials that you have were replaced with seperate up/down buttons in the same place on mine.

Did you hook up SAT to that unit yet?

Hey Mike,

I've been looking for a map light LED since I've got George's in all three domes and he stopped making that module. I see in the pic in post #10 that this has the lead, did you have to modify it otherwise?

LEDs:
MapLight
(1)Ba9 - white------------------------------------------------------autolumination - Bayonet Item # 48 Led SMT Array Cool White 24.99

Thanks!
Tucker

I canceled my subscription when XM and Sirius merged.

The only modification you need to figure out is how you want the LED plate to sit in the housing. Mine are only held in place by coiling the wire like a spring and that keeps it straight.

Want to sell you Sirius Sat receiver if you are not using it?

Please excuse the quick hijack: S.CarolinaFZJ80, I've replied to your PM's about the running boards, but my messages have been returned because your PM inbox is full. Please advise...........Thanks for everyone's indulgence on that hijack..........now back to the LED thread.......

I didn't have the tuner in the 80, just the Duramax.

The antenna up and down was a bit lethargic no matter what I did so that had to be corrected. Cut down and soldered a 3 SMD LED into the little bugger and it matches the others perfectly. I tried adding a 1 SMD LED to it like the other buttons but it just looked terrible. The way the button is made the light has to reflect left and right into a little pocket to illuminate the face and an LED pointed down just doesn't cut it. It is hard to take pics at night...the color is more blue in reality but the same brightness.

Just got done installing the same map lights in both the Cruiser and LX and WOW.:) They put out and insane amount of light. Should've had sunglasses on before turning the first one on.:D Got George's domes too and the map lights are noticeably brighter. I need to figure out a better way of securing 'em though since they're only held in place w/ double sided tape.

Which map lights did you go with?

I bought some LED christmas lights from Wal-mart since they are so cheap now. Can these bulbs be used to replace some of the dash lights? What info do I need to know before I burn something up? I bought the 60ct LED mini light set.

Just put one of these bulbs in the plastic base the factory incandescents were in and it fits. It is exactly the same height as the factory lights.

personally I would be leary of that. You may end up ruining something or burning up something like you said.
