Well.....I go back to work tomorrow. I pretty much accomplished my goal for the build. It's dam close to being a roller. I ended up ordering new wheel hubs and some hardware I was missing.
I will finish the axles when parts arrive. Then it's...
Front axles are assembled with mini truck birfs. Knuckles cleaned and painted. Cleaned up all the threads too.
Next is to clearance the knuckle ball for the new birfs. Then assemble everything else.
Feels like this one has been here a long time but I just went back and looked and it’s only been 2 full months.
I love projects that flow like this one has.
It’s part of the charm Nolan
Part of the charm
Looking real nice real nice 👍
Some people roll around in these trucks with a few .22lrs in the ash tray, a pack of pall mall non-filters, and a rack of yellow jackets bang shifting that 3 on the...
I figure the main force is pushing down due to driver or passengers physical weight. So the nut inserts should be fine. In a roll or collision, there maybe be other forces at work. The seat belts have significant anchors and those should take...
Pressed the bottom spring plates back into shape. Then cleaned and painted all the shackles, pins, and plates.
Got the oem springs cleaned up and ready for paint.......since I am trying to do this build on somewhat of a budget. I can always...
Started bolting more things on the truck. I am liking this blue more and more. The contrast with the new parts and repainted items really pops.
Also got the windshield glass installed today. My local glass shop does a great job at good prices.
Kick vents with new gaskets in place. Installed the repainted ash tray and glove box door as well. Not sure on the transmission choice yet, so no shift instructions.
Shame to waste a functioning PTO where it won’t be used, but it sure does look proper.
Just bring that Milwaukee impact wrench along, and voila! Working winch.
All body bolts and bushing are in place and snug. Might need to adjust later.
Started bolting on some easy pieces. The more I bolt on, the less parts in the house or on the floor.....lol
Back on this girl.
Engine bay strip and clean. Coming along nicely
This one was pretty clean already. Just took a layer of grime off and hit it with the buffer.
Had to drag Rosie out to get the motor out of the shop.
Made and appointment with @RocketCityCrzrs for the first week in May for an overhaul.
Now I’m off to get a pallet together for the one eyed Austrian
Well, in about late 2006/early 2007, it all started with a leaking head gasket......original engine had around 50-60K miles on it judging from the broken odometer and original TRE's and u-joints......After removal of the head, I noticed a hole in...
If “they” didn’t know how to install a freeze plug
I would be shocked if they did the harder parts of that right, quality of parts used notwithstanding.
You know what’s a lot harder than freeze plugs?
Bearing clearances and little things like...
