Did you step up to 300Ms
Or do they even have them for the 60s ?
I’m confident that the RCV will be better !
Dunno how I missed this one, Richard. I went std RCV. If they blow I'll see about other treatments.

Less interesting than birf nonsense, but equally frustrating, is an occurrence of P0171. It's better than nothing, but cmon, Yoshi. For those uninitiated, 171 is the OBD equivalent of engineers shrugging. If the ECU sees AFR out of range far enough for long enough but none of the other diagnostics explain why, you get 171.

Mine presented with an intermittently stumbly idle.

Solving it is a damned goose chase; almost always a damaged piece of rubber. This time around I had two, lucky me. One dead vacuum cap, and a cracked PCV hose. Yes, that little bitty crack did it. I can bump that hose and turn the STFT from < 3 to 20+.

20 year old PCV hose, RIP.

Boring update, but for the sake of my memory...

Revised the booster's vacuum source from the throttle body to the back of the intake using a sequoia/tundra pipe and re-bent it a bit. This shortened the vac hose from a few feet down to about 6". The intake is pre-plumbed, just have to pull the plug and install the pipe and banjo.

Adding that tube creates a crash between the stock 60 heater hose and the pipe support bracket. Swapped hoses to Gates 28469 - trimmed a bunch of the long end and bit off the short end. Fits like OE.

I miscounted before... there are now 11 Toyota/Lexus models in this contraption: 60, 62, 80, 4R (3rd, 4th, 5th gen), minitruck, tacoma, LS430, Sequoia, Supra...legos, y'all.

Been a year and some change so a tire review seems worthy. These XMTs have 20k miles on them including hard offroad use and one rotation. They run incredibly smooth, which is nuts given the huge voids.

Leading edges are worn, but overall the wear is uniform. They look like I might get 35-40k out of them - which considering how well they work offroad - is awesome. Spare needs to rotate in. It's 0 mile depth is included for comparison.

You are giving those tires quite a test. One doesn't have to look far to find a video of Camo white-smoking tires on the trail.

"If the ECU sees AFR out of range far enough for long enough but none of the other diagnostics explain why, you get 171." you say?

That dude needs a refresher course. It’s all ball bearings these days. @Zjohnsonua just needs to hit his fetzer valve with some 3in oil and gauze.

The wheeling gods took their sacrifice last month when the front diff let go with a totally boring *POP* as I was climbing a little ledge. Found this on removal:

Pinion nut was still staked, but the crush sleeve spun freely and had some axial play. Most of the bearing rollers were laying in the bottom of the housing, along with several fractured rollers and gear pieces. Water had been present at some point as the adjusters were rusted above the oil pool, and the ring teeth showed some pitting.

When the pinion walked it ate the housing up pretty badly. So I ditched the 60 housing and snagged one from a buddies dead 80 rear axle to start anew.

I'm betting the corrosion ate a few rollers, they broke out, I continued to beat on it, then it packed up.

Gears, bearing set, and ARB seals because why not. Gotta pay to play or something like that.

One of those incidental mods that has proven very handy: door lock delete (a rock did it, in fairness), and addition of a little magnet (fell out of my fender and stuck to my bumper). Holds the door closed with reasonable force, the latch hole is a nice size for a finger to pull, and the magnet holds the gas cap in a handy spot. Highly recommend.

time for 75 different people to post that in the "$50 or less Mods " thread.

I was hopping he would offer this as a kit
Only if I get to include Step 1 as "remove lock mechanism by dragging your PS qtr panel across a shed-sized rock"

I want to go wheeling :(

need to fix my stupid transmission.

I'm good to go. You guys need to fix your s***, or rebuild it so it doesn't break so often.

Also, buy stickies so you can keep up with me, lol

2nd this. I started using an earth magnet after I painted the truck while I was looking for the lock. Still using it, and have no plans to change that. Keys never come out of the ignition now.

Hey hey hey, tearing my s*** down this week to get repair parts ordered.

I'm not sure stickies alone are gonna close the gap to fortaytooz

Tire review time.

TL;DR: Yokohama's XMT is an excellent tire, especially for Southeastern US terrain. I'm unaware of another tire behaving and performing this well on and off road at any price point while keeping offroad performance at the forefront.

Usage: I racked up ~30k miles on this set in mixed daily driving with hard trail use. 37x12.50R17 on 17x9 beadlocks (10" effective mounting width) at 28psi on average. They were balanced at install with stick-ons and they held balance throughout their life.

Road noise: Everyone thinks they'll be noisy like Boggers. They aren't (at least for most of their life). They definitely talk to you, but comparing to Toyo MT, the Toyo is even or worse. I'm down to 30% tread and they're properly noisy now - to be expected.

Durability: Yes, holy hell, yes. The large open tread voids show one cut, the sidewalls have many surface cuts, and the tread shows chunking, but I never needed a plug or a patch, not even after Hot Springs sharpness.

Here's a few pics: the spare (never bolted up), 30k miles use, the worst of the cuts - circumferential but never lost air (2 years ago), and the set.
