I would leave it as is because u have a nice amount of uptravel right now unless u lifted it higher or did a body lift. Just saying that because sounds like u use it for bombing down roads/trails pretty hard.
This is true. However, with the Slinky kit 37's fit just fine. Only changes I would need to make is to move the front axle forward an inch, and add 1" to the rear bumpstop. Not too difficult but still work that would need to be done.

Also Maxxis makes a 35x13.5x17 in the Razrs. which might be cool.

In the minority here, but I'd stick with 35s for your axles' sake. Plus you're close to being back to pre-4.88s with 37's.

Just like my opinion thoooo

315 KM3, 75mm slinky FYI .... in the best color :grinpimp:

Had two clogged Magnaflow cats that resulted in a massive power loss. While diagnosing I found a bad fuel pump that was on its way out so that got replaced. Replaced the cats with two new Magnaflow HiFlow cats. Power feels much better obviously. 2-year warranty on these so hopefully no issues with them for a long while.

Which MagnaFlow part numbers did you go with? I need to do the same very soon.

I replaced my exhaust this last spring with Magnaflow parts and used these parts for the bulk of it and had a local exhaust shop fab up the rest:

Part numbers: #23120 #23622 (one was the header and cat, the other was the second cat)

Try 37s and if you don’t like them go back to 35s.
There’s no going back, especially if you go to a true 37 that sticks well. Acceleration and braking will suffer noticably but this compromise is more than offset by off road performance gains and aesthetics. It was really amazing how many less times I drag my underside traversing the Rubicon once I went to 37’s. Mr. T gave us massive wheel wells because he wants us to run 37’s without needing a tall lift. :)

Having driven an 80 on 35's with stock gears for more than a decade (previous rig) I have no doubt that the perceived drop in power from 37's and the 4.88s I have now won't be any worse. Braking could take a hit because of the greater rolling mass, but I don't see people crashing their 80s all over the place because they can't stop in time.

My plan at the moment is to run a set of 37's this time. If I really don't like the way the truck feels afterward, the next set will be back to 35's because I like how the truck works now. I'm just waiting for my new 17" wheels to show up, then I can get the tires.

Photo Dump!

New wheels and tires this weekend. Made the jump to 37's and picked up a full set (5) of 37x13.50 Toyo Open Country MTs. True 37's with a total height of 37.05". Was planning to just get another set of 35's but was able to work out a deal on some 17" Icon wheels. There are very few tires options for 37's that fit a 16" wheel these days so since I had a lead on the 17's a pulled the trigger on the 37's.

Wheel are Icon Alloy Rebounds, 17x8.5, zero offset. I still have my 1.5" spidertrax spacers on. If you run these wheels without spacers then the centercaps will not fit. I thought about removing the spacers but I wanted to run the centercaps and I've also had no complaints or issues with the spacers so I left them alone.

Pictures don't do the Icon wheels justice. They look so good in person. I wasn't sure about the bronze color with my Moonglow paint before I ordered them but now that they're on, I love the combination!

I still need to add 1" to my bumpstops. I'm planning to add some f/r Timbren bumps in place of the frame mounted bumpstops to take care of that. Should have those in a couple weeks. The tires are pretty tight at the firewall and I've done a little trimming of the flares and took a little off the bottom of the inner fenders. That's working fine for normal driving but they'll still make minor contact when stuffed. So I might weld in some plates to relocate the front axle 1" forward and it should be good to go.

Power still feels good to me with the 4.88 Nitros. I haven't noticed much difference from the 315s. Happy about that.

Here's some pics.

This 315 has been my spare and it's a Goodyear MTR that only has about 10 miles on it. I wanted to compare the new ones next to a new actual 35.

Had to cut the fuel can basket and hilift mount off the swingout so the 37 would fit. I'll figure out a solution for that soon.

That looks really, really nice. The bronze is just understated enough to work well with your combo.

I'd be happy to take the old wheels off your hands since you don't need them anymore :D

I agree on the in person thing, the matte finish is killer in the skin. :smokin:

So I've seen a number of people posting photos this week that show a 10 year gap, or in otherwords, a photo or two from 10 years ago and another photo or two from recent days. Here's a few of mine. Interesting to go back to some photos from 10 years ago and realize all the things that have happened since then. Some things change others don't change much at all.

I was driving a different 80 ten years ago. My '93 that started my 80 obsession.
