About to install me some new injectors. Speedo cable ordered along with filtering funnel to reclaim the gas I am going to have to drain. All should be here the 31st and I’m off the 1st so things should be able to be finished up.

Tried to get speedo cable today when I ordered injectors yesterday but they wouldn’t do it, said I should order myself due to special order. Not sure why that matters but it’s done anyway.
 
Can someone share what’s best way to do body swap outside of using a 2 post lift?

I’ve been told Gantry lift would work, anyone have experience doing it this way?

Not sure how you would balance it.

I’ve seen it done with a couple floor jacks, stands and 4x4s long enough to reach past the frame. Basically get under the rockers long enough to get a 4x4 under the supports where the front seat mounts rest.

You have to take it slow. Some videos on YouTube.

Or this with an engine hoist inside the cab

REMOVING CAB FROM FRAME !?

Any of you have some advice to remove cab from frame ? I dont have a lift for that,,, maybe with a engine hoist ? engine is already out and I need to replace cabin bushings and work a little on the frame witch is going to be much easier with the cab removed. every tip that can help is welcome...

I know of a good way, but it involves some prep work with some welding, and two lift sources (could possibly use one with care if it’s high enough with enough radius to avoid the rolling chassis).
Build a bar to span the tailgate opening attaching to the tailgate latch mounts, then one in the front spanning to the upper flange mounts for the inner fenders. These are your two pick points. Two spaced lifting eyes on each could be included to triangulate your rigging for better stability.
I used a cherry picker on the rear and a truck crane for the front. Super easy and simple.

Why not just use as an excuse to buy a two post lift? We are way too old to be doing body swaps on our backs, forget the actual body lifting part it's a ton of work under a car to swap a body and make that a running driving car not to mention the mission creep of while I'm here!
 
I'm was going to say the same as @J Mack . You have been planning to buy a lift anyway Jon. Go get a Rotary 10k asymmetric (or equivalent brand) and be done with it. No way I would be headed down the path I'm on without the lift.
 
Knew it was coming, just looking at options.

Agree with both of you i should just do it. With everything else going on figured I’d just see what other options exist to do this swap and in my head there aren’t a lot.

Too much risk to damage the goods I’m working with.

IMHO if the time/money/space doesn't exist then you're better off leaving the body on and driving the vehicle until that changes. Don't underestimate how much of all three it takes to see it through to the end. This forum is full of unfinished projects and guys like @scrapdaddy are the exception not the norm.
Not trying to poop on your plans but pulling a body and swapping everything over is a big job for a crew of guys that do this kind of work with fully equipped shops, maybe @gonzopancho could give us an idea of billable hours on BAT pig body remove and replace at a competent shop.
 
On other hand I guess I could buy a crane!

I had the rotary lift chosen and was ready to pull trigger than work really got cranked up.

@J Mack @WarDamnEagle, I’m sure not feeling any younger being under that pig and hurt for few days with that gas tank.

I’m sure I’ll ponder this today. Gonna use my vacation to do some flight training but burning 6 weeks is the next 3-4 months I should be able to carve out day to do something like this.
 
Yard hydrant head cracked last night so I get to dig that up and replace today. If ground wasn’t partially frozen it wouldnt be too bad.

I’d replace the head only but the plunger has been crap for last year but I didn’t want to waste time fixing it since we going to destroy it and build new house where it sits.

Might as well. Have some trips planned. Unless employer throws deal my way I can’t turn down that addresses my concerns I’d rather use it.

I carried two weeks from last year over I didn’t use. 4 weeks yearly with 5 days of sick leave we are expected to use for personal stuff when we want.

Like most in the pig pen, I don’t call in sick I show up for work, unlike a lot of the kids these days.

Not sure you even have to be there. Just mark the spot. Although you're probably like me, I would hate to not be there and they need my "advice". 😂

We use these type of hydrants in the yard. Never have to worry about freezing temps.

If plunger at base where it attached to incoming water is intact it’s not issue. This one went bad a year ago. Water would still run even with handle down. So I put another valve in spicket we could close and it’s worked like a charm.

Last year was suppose to be final year we would be in the current living arrangements. Therefore I chose not to replace it since we will be moving everything based on where garden will go.

I have entire set up to replace in barn although I’ll likely dig it up and cap line if I have the right sized cap.

When temp gets below 26-27 degrees I shut off water to trailer at night and we drain lines turn back on in morning and all is good. Has worked for years in the extreme cold.

We’re ready to move into shop then we notice paint defect on back of new RV. Still under warranty for another month so I have to take it to Tulsa and let dealer work on getting it repainted.

Then bring on new living arrangements.
 
Just a few small details to work through. It’s all worth it when I get to step outside at sunrise and see this and hear coyotes sounding off.

Maggie was doing her best to scare them off!

Snow did add layer of beauty this week.
