Installed an engine bay LED strip today. Got it from mud member @yodaTEQ a few months back and just getting around to installing it. The one I bought is listed as for the 80 series and was going to go for another project at the time, but that project is gone. Not sure if they have one that is listed as being "for" the GX...but this one worked great. The kit is very well put together, IMO. Cost was around $60 bucks.

Pics....

(Yes, I need an aux fuse panel badly... I've actually got a nice blue sea panel and just need to get a few more things and get'r'done.)

Yeah, I am going to trim the mirror switch and buy the 100 series switch plate that will free up a button next to the mirror.

Does the 100 series one fit there? I was looking at the switch plates in my 2005 and 2000 LX470s and they seem a bit wider and shorter than the ones in the GX... Maybe the 100-series one is different?

That looks nice! Did you remove all the engine covers as well? Was thinking about removing all the covers on mine as well.

Thanks! Ya, I did pull all the covers off. I pulled them all off like the first week I had it. I don't care for that stuff, personally. Yes, its def a bit louder in the cab, but I don't care.

There is a thick sound deadening pad under one of those engine covers, it does quiet it down a bit.
I leave the covers in place but don't put any of the clips in, they stay in place just fine and don't rattle. When I need to work on something I can just pick them up and set them on the ground without messing with the clips.

Here is another one:

Buy J-hooks, blocks of wood, and some hardware (nuts, washers, etc). Drill two holes in the wood (one for the long section, one to catch the end of the J). Hook through the LATCH bar on the back of your rear seats, tighten up.

HANG YOUR 48" Hi-LIFT INSIDE!! BOOYAH! :p

Fair warning, if you want to make this a product you better ask my permission. My idea! :p

If you are a shade tree mechanic with $5 burning in your pocket, feel free to create one for yourself :)

If it's strong enough to strap your kid to then why not a HiLift! Only bad thing is that you wouldn't be able to fold the seat down without folding the other down.

can you post a link for this switch?

#1) So I found a bunch of different aux light options at this e-bay seller from China and it appears that they come with a wiring harness!

#2) Then I can't believe I found this on Walmart.com

Personally I think I am going to go with the Walmart one (#2) because that is the most like the FJ Cruiser one that TheFerg shared up above and then buy the last one (#5) off of eBay from China for the wiring harness. So it will be a total of $10.74 for the button and $4.99 for the harness and a spare button. I would just get this China one but I don't like the fact that it says LED Off. This is a much easier pill to swallow than one for $34 from Toyota plus whatever the harness cost.

So the Walmart (Toyota Hilux) button came in and here is the side by side comparison. It definitely is not up to snuff with OEM but it will work since you can hardly see the buttons on the lower left dash. Still waiting on the plug to be shipped from China or something. Oh and I still need to order the ditch light brackets for my $20 Amazon LED's.

Just realized when the photo posted up that I am holding the button upside down.

How long did it take you to get it? I bought the eBay switch just for the wiring, hope it works with the Walmart button but if not I can use the botton it comes with.

Apparently it took a lot longer than I was thinking it took. I checked my eBay account thinking I ordered it last week but I ordered it Feb 29 and it showed up March 23.

I've gotten it wired up but didn't take any pictures. I'll get some tomorrow.
