Picked up a nice 96 FJ80 but with stock gears and 37's. First thing I want to do is get her locked (at least rear) and re-geared to 5.91.

Willing to drive up to 2 days each way to get it done. Suggestions?

Gather your parts and get them over to Zuk, he's in Chandler AZ. I don't know if he'll pull and install the thirds though, you'd have to ask.

Gear Install Harrop

I ordered my locker from Cruiseroutfitters. I believe he stocks gear kits also.

Been totally happy with Zuk's install work.

Yep feel lucky you have such a great source close like Zuk. Hurry because once the summer heat hits Zuk done until it cools down. At least that has been the schedule the last several years.

Murf (here on Mud) at CamelBack Toyota can handle the in n out and send your 3rds to Zuk.

+1 to ZUK. He is the only reason I would consider relocating to that side of the country.

Seriously, you want the hands that do this to be the ones that touch your gears:

Zuk, only guy I would trust.

@gearinstalls.com Zuk / Ken Francisco has set up many Harrops for our customers - awesome professional :bounce::bounce2:

I think you have your answer. I was going to recommend him also.

Not much doubt here!!! 4.88 was a thought, but I think at 37's, 5.91 will be better. May dump the 37's and drop to 33 - 34, then 4.88 would be perfect. Just bought the rig yesterday, will pick it up tomorrow. Got a few grand or so to throw at it, and want to get rolling. Right now it does 0 to fifty in a couple minutes!

35's and stock gears are perfect for the tarmac add a set of Marlin low range gears and you are set for off road.

Yeah, the right lane or the shoulder!

Fair enough but Ill be by at least once this summer you can follow me:grinpimp:

How many Rosie O'Donnells can we add to your truck to level the total mass playing field. Think of the conversations you could have with say 4 of them?

Im at #6950 your bitch cant be that fat:rofl:

5.91?

Thought 5.29 was about as big as the market offered.

37s on an 80 are a great combo. Just consider your street vs trail time. Granted your west side but if you still plan to lay down some highway miles to get to the trailhead think anout the rpms and more over the noise while getting there

Ive run 37s for many years on stock gears albeit under 3k elevation and reasonably flat terrain and with a supercharger but one holdup on going to bigger diff gears is not wanting to listen to it screaming down the highway for hours while getting to the trails.

If you hit the overdrive off button and drive around that has been said to be reasonably equivilant to 4.88 set.

I'm rolling 4.88 Nitro gears on 35s. So long as you're rolling on flat ground, stock gears will be fine. But if you live near any elevation, prepare yourself for the inevitable shifto-schitzo-trans-multi-matic shift patterns. That was no bueno for me.
