No, not the same, 45 seats have an angle at the lower pass side bench to clear the fill pipe. SOR list the correct seat covers for fj45’s.

the fuel tank in the 65 lpb has several major leaks.
up and down the seams. many previous solder based fixes all over looks like some seal-all/permatex type fixes all up and down the seams and lots of rust inside and out...
not a few small leaks, like pouring gas out the seams and pooling in the cab...

only shop I have found in town that will solder on a gasoline tank is A1 radiator.
he says only soft/lead based solder will work,

couple years ago I silver soldered the heater pipes on my 76 40, that worked really well, but he said cant do that here too much heat, metal too gone.....has to be real careful soft soldering..(I am thinking kaboom in my head)
cool old shop and dude....
but he wants $500 to fix it, he says he can fix it all, line it, and guarantee it for that price.

if it was a 40 tank I would just replace it, but 45 tanks dont really grow on trees.

any thoughts from the group here?
would prefer to keep it original, just not sure I can swallow a $500 tab on a 52 year old tank...but then again honestly not sure there are many other options.

if it were a diesel tank many shops would touch it...

no oem or aftermarket solutions I can find for 45 tanks...
thoughts?

oh, also,
the fuel filler neck rubber elbow is f'ing done, split on both sides..
cant fine a valid part number for that...anyone know if the original is still available?
if not I will look for some other source

Sorry to hear your troubles with the tank Mike. Could it be possible to find an early 40 tank and have the 45 filler neck grafted on to it?

Here is a NAPA hose number that should work for the filler neck. Obviously you will have to trim it. Good luck!

@simps80 Mike you can use a 72 FJ40 tank new from Toyota (at least I was able to in my 78’). The the filler neck of the tank is correct. I did have a shop install vent tubes and a return line fitting for me.

I have a friend here locally paid a lot of money to have the tank fixed in his 65’ 45 with a lifetime warranty. He has had it worked on twice since their original work was done and it still has issues.

There just aren’t a lot of options for 45 fuel tanks. Good luck sir!

I knew that picture would be handy

no worries! I took that picture just for such a need.. PN was easily visible and scissors sitting there. THat little hose was about $25 or more i believe.. Wasn't cheap but exactly what was needed. Nothing in this hobby is cheap.

ummm.
its a 53 year old gas tank man.
you dont need to apologize...like I am holding you responsible for s*** unleaded ethanol plus 50 years of age making a tank leak...

good news...though

came to my senses
resisted the urge to fix myself after one of my local cruiser heads talked some sense.

still hated $5 hundo though
..so searched on...

found gold star radiator. 696 s. broadway
will see how they do...
didnt have to even lie about being a diesel tank.
$200 bucks...
boiled, lined and soldered

wont know for a couple 3 weeks have to go to dallas/austin for work
will report back
but way better than 500 and way better I suppose than the risk of me trying to silver solder or soft solder it myself

I had a radiator shop boil, line and solder my 45 tank. Great job. Really nice craftsmanship. Still leaks.
