Builds A pig out of hand is worth 2...

Finally getting around to working on the pig again. I am in need of a cam and lifters for a 2F. Anyone have any sources? (that aren't $500 for the cam and $150 for the lifters) Can I have my lifters and cam reground? Is this a reliable option?

Got my rear sway bar mounts welded up! Stripped the rear end and got a coat of primer on. Feels good to be making progress again!

I may have missed it what lift are you running?
No lift. As far as I know they are stock springs but there are some odd ball helper springs on the back. They are two halfs on each side. One front and one back of the axel. I really think the height is great but I am sure that I will lose some of it when I put the engine, trans, transfer case back in.

So my next step is outboarding the front leaf spring hangers. I have been searching through MUD to find some elegant inspiration and am not coming up with much. Anybody have pictures of nice work?

Did a Google Image search for "outboard spring hanger" and found some of the most godawful and sketching spring hangers ever! But I also found one that I love! On Pirate 4x4 a guy named fc187 is doing amazing work on cnapilot's crop duster. I can't remember but I thought I read somewhere that fc187 is on MUD. Anyone know his handle here?

Here is a pic of fc187's handywork that has got me thinking:

I don't think he posts on MUD, but he is an artist. Everything he does, looks like that. Along with Georg, runs Valley Hybrids @ Stockton, Ca.

Started cleaning up the frame today. Cut off the front and rear spring hangers and threw the fj60 power steering box up there just to see. There is an existing bolt that happens to line up with the lower rear hole on the box... Too good to be true?

Planning on one long fish plate on the outside of the drivers side frame rail. Will run from spring hanger to spring hanger. Two questions:

1) Is this overkill? Should I go with three smaller fish plates? (1 for front spring hanger, 1 for steering box and shock hoop, and 1 for the rear spring hanger

2) If I fish plate the drivers side frame rail should I do the same to the outside of the passenger side too?

I went over board on my plates, but they were separate plates. I also ran DOM tubing through the frame for the steering box bolts, so you could really put the smoke to the bolts. Very possible I warped the frame from all the heat, but had to have it straightened down the line.

In my opinion anything other that the plate under the power steering gear isn't going to do much. Maybe necessary if you enter monster truck competitions. :steer::steer:

Good call! I got caught up in all this "Hard core" stuff (hehe) and I intuitively knew it was overkill but needed someone to back me up. Thanks for speaking up!

Nice, wish I would of used a plasma cutter. Did mine with the torch and you can tell I can't hold a straight line.
