That’s a great truck CD are you buying it ?
It looks like a high boy but I don’t see the transfer case hanging down.
It also looks like 1978 or newer front axle ?

Please tell more !!

Planning on buying it here in the next hour if everything checks out. It’s a 1976 f250 factory 4x4 crew cab. 390 and NP435 4 speed. Dana 60 front and rear. 1 of 2490 made in 1976.

Gross misrepresentation of the truck!!!! Guy had a few lies short of my sawed off shot gun! On holding pattern for a day to regroup as we uncover a few more leads while in the area. Seems to be hot bed of these

Well that sucks.

damn man, I know that struggle. Wish people would be honest about what their selling. what they think you weren't gonna find the issues when you got there?! good luck on your search hopefully something pops up and it isn't a wasted trip

On the bright side, you guys are smart enough to know to back out.

While those trucks are really cool there nearly 50 years old now and were used as work trucks. Most of them are beat to the ground and finding a survivor is nearly impossible ones that are restored are big $$$

Even worse than taking vertical photos of horizontal things.

Yea. Even after a tons of pics to verify before we left! Lot of details left out. He had mentioned that he drives this routinely and that drives nice. Longest he has driven it is 30 miles. So absolutely no idea of a long haul. We were hopeful that his routine driving meant he had it working well. Clutch clutch fork bearing was chatty. “Truck cools well with electric fans” They did not work when we arrived. He had removed all the dash gauges after pics we got. Spent 2 hours rigging oil and temp back up so we could test it. Luckily engine spacing allowed for a mechanical fan. Asked him to swap it out for a mechanical fan from his other trucks. Did a test drive but was not great!

Making lemonade. While in a holding pattern we are going to hit Mt. Ranier and Mt. St Helens. So close to us.

Beautiful country out there for sure. Spent much of my youth stomping around there.

@SipLife is long in the tooth about these trucks than I am at least on the research about what is best. You are right! Many are just beat to hell. They are stoutly built though. Body panel and cab gauge is “thick”. No wonder they hang on to dear life. I did really enjoy rowing the gears and hear the carb gulp fuel. 37s are hard to stop. Even with disk brakes!

I love these truck two, I grew up with them and have had quite a few. Single, supercab & crew cab.
By far the crew cab’s are the rarest and most desirable.
We all know how it goes😂 I wish I kept them all. Including a few first gen Bronco I owned.

I'm doing a 4bt in a '69. Swapped in 78 axles for disc/open knuckles. They fit the front leaf spacing so it's easy enough.

Battle born brakes makes pretty good kits for getting super duty axles under the old Fords, but if I had the time and skill, swapping an older cab on a modern frame is the way to go. I've seen multiple rolling chassis around here under 2k lately.

If you do want to use a 70s frame, the battle born conversion kits make it easy enough to use super duty axles under a 2wd frame, so that really opens up your options.

I don't want want to hijack your thread but I've been way down the old Ford rabbit hole over the last couple years- DM me if you want to chat through options or need help finding a southern truck.

I think I did worse. Mt Ranier. Brackets the range of emotions on this trip

I did worse. Mt Ranier. Kinda summarizes the highs and lows of the trip🥴.

@sokoloka may have some leads?

I think @SipLife has already PMd him. Thanks for sharing!!!

Yesterday was day tripping. We hit Astoria, Cannon beach, and Tilamook! @SipLife had his first ever clam chowder in Cannon Beach!

Nothing to write about in Tilamook other than the creamery. Thought we would spend the night. Only two hotels…one was boarded up and the other looked like we would have a stripped car when we awoke. We headed to Portland for the night awaiting the same fate by the homeless.

@SipLife has a lead on two trucks today. In Spokane 👀.
