I first started wearing Crocs® for when I'd go out onto a dive boat for SCUBA. I've always had at least one pair of Crocs® in good condition for the last couple decades it seems. After my crash, they were the natural choice for footwear around the DDmanse. I've had brown, tan, teal green, leather, faux fur-lined, etc.

It’s with a heavy heart I head to Sri Lanka. My dad is on his last days. Much of what we do in the barn has his fingerprints on it. Much is owed to his abilities and curiosity. He will live on as we enjoy time in it.

It’s great to be alongside my dad. He is deteriorating but able to have needed chats that we haven’t and should. Priceless. Glad to have had the chance to be here.

On a lighter note, we have a new visitor to the barn. Name is Waldo. A neighbors chicken that is a Toyota lover. Every day it hangs out in a different place that we discover. Hence “Waldo”. Evenings, she roosts in the Tundra bed/roof or wife’s 100.

Be careful, chickens will sh!t all over everything. They are dim creatures of habit; once they find a place to roost or lay or whatever, it is very hard to dissuade them from being there.

@ceylonfj40nut I just read the whole thread. This is awesome stuff. You're getting at what makes Land Cruisers special. It's not the vehicles, it's the community, friendship, and adventures. My boys are a bit younger than yours but I can only hope that I can impart on them some of what you have with your boys.

@Goldbug I really appreciate you sharing. Love the pic of your son wrenching. Way cool. It’s a lot easier when you work together on something you both don’t know. I find it’s better than teaching them. It’s an equal playing field of figuring it out and that failing is part of it. Try to limit teaching to the use of tools. Please share your journey thread with me when you can. Love to be alongside it.

I am back in the US. Time spent with dad was priceless. He was coherent and we were able to chat. I left him at a paliative stage with 24/7 care arranged at home. He is comfortable and safe, and not it pain. Time left is unknown. I am at peace. He has lived a good life and glad to be there with him for the journey.

2 days before I was to head back to the US, I caught Dengue Fever (mosquito spread virus) Was under 24/7 monitoring at the ER. There is no cure. There is a mild form and a fatal form. Luck of the draw. Fatal form causes incessant internal bleeding. I was lucky. Dengue attacks your blood platelets. I got to critical levels but luckily my body recovered on day 7. Otherwise it transitions to a severe form. Puts many things in perspective. Health is wealth. Glad to be home.

Got into the barn today to assist my son finish out a rear caster correction to address a driveline vibration on his 40. It was zen to spin a wrench.
