Before painting the Case/ Holland valve cover breathers I made sure the gaskets from the new set matched the valve cover on the 4BT.
It was an perfect match.

Decided that the engine bay needed more color so painted them red.

Works been busy and my wife and daughter are headed to an orphanage in Peru for 2 weeks so any work on the 60 has been slow.

Our dog Reload turned one today and since it snowed in the Cascades thought it was a perfect time to take Snowball❄ and the family out to play.

Went over to the Mt. Hood Meadows side of the mountain and had this hill all to ourselves.

I think Reload a lot of fun.

But Snowball❄️ had the most.

The fall leaves were at their peak adding to the spectacular snowy scene.

Climbed up to Bennet Pass on HWY 35 and headed on some backcountry forest service roads toward Badger Lake.

Climbed above the pass to a spot where you could barely see the NE flank of Cooper Spur.

Got back down to the highway as the clouds departed and Mt. Hood emerges in all its glory.

Snowball had its most fun in over a year and a half.

On the way home took the 60 over the truck scale.

Get Valve cover breather installed only to find that I only got one rubber grommet that goes on the valve cover bolt to hold the Case/ Holland valve cover down.

Went to 3 auto part stores and no dice on finding a part. Need to call Mobile Diesel Service Monday and see when they can send me one. Got some rubber bushings from the hardware store but not sure if they can handle the heat.

First flight for daughter. First time into another Continent for both.
Thankful to have projects to pass the time. @boots4 is coming over Thursday to help me play with my VE pump. Then headed Saturday to Tilly Jane Cabin work party. Following weekend headed to Crater Lake property to start septic test holes and install well pump.

Had a tune session with Mike after work. Wanted to know where the 4BT was on timing. The VE pump was at 18 degrees. Backed timing off to 16.5 degrees and made adjustments below.

Thanks Mike for the tune session.
Boost prior to tune was at 18 psi max, now it’s up to 28 psi. Noticeable power difference. It was like another truck driving home.

Next weekend will be headed to Crater Lake Property to start working on the well pump/ and manual handpump install.

My bone yard of older handpump I’ve removed still in rebuildable condition.

Will be taking the mini trackhoe and the pump hoist down there so unfortunately no 60 yet. Need to get septic test holes dug so I can start next year on the septic install. Should be a lot of fun.

I couldn’t imagine living in a place with no mountains or snow.

Used wire brush on drill to clean all the grime and rust off old pump stand. Brake cleaner to clean before spray painting with Krylon Colormaxx paint and primer.

This paint is amazingly fast drying and coats really well. Comparison to what the pumpstand looked like an hour ago.

Always awesome to just tinker with some components and then get instant improvement and gratification.

Had a plan to go to the Tilly Jane A-frame work party and overnighter today with my boy and his friend. I received the Case/ Holland Crankcase breather grommets yesterday so I installed the crank case breather early this morning. Not sure if when I routed the hose if it hit the power steering return line or just a coincidence but after about 10 miles I hear a pop and a loss of power steering. Open the hood to find the hose blown off the return on the gearbox. Went to the shop luckily only 5 minutes away and hopefully go get fluid and be on our way again. I had noticed a sound that had progressively gotten stronger the past day. I thought it was perhaps the belt but found out my front injector was blowing exhaust from the cylinder out the injector. It’s not spraying any diesel only pushing exhaust out. Ran to Napa and got power steering fluid and a better hose clamp. I’m wondering if the PS return kinked when I was weaving the crank case breather line through and finally built up too much pressure and blew. The hose inside diameter actually increased size. Got new PS fluid and filled pump. Turned steering wheel and got fluid to start filling system again. Took it for a drive. Returned and added more fluid as it was still whining. Finally got it the PS working good. Shot a video of the injector exhaust leak.

Decided that it would be best and not go and do some more work on Snowball❄️.
My transfer case is touching the under side of my floor with no gap. When driving it’s fine but bumps and especially stops the tcase gets pushed up on the floor board and vibrates like crazy at times. Decided if Snowball❄️ Was going to throw a tantrum today it’d be a great time to get the sledge hammer out and beat on it a little bit. I couldn’t even get my fingers over the top of tcase. By the time I finished with a small sledge, floor jack, 3’ HD screwdriver I can now put my hand up there. Felt much better taking some aggression out.
Also since I now was at work I went on a call and helped my brother on a service call.
Got back and decided to get a jump finishing up the cleaning up and getting the hand pump painted and assembled.
