Awesome. So did you fix your shifting issues?
I’m just ordered a short shift kit last night as a present to myself.

There is def a sweet spot. Very odd that sometimes it goes right in and other times you have to get it just right. Drove it around today and water temp was on the higher side of the stock gauge with no fan. I bought @boots4 dual electric fans and now need to get a controller. @FJ60Cam said Speedhut gauges should be here in about a month.

Nice! I went for Hurst short shift for the 75. It was a hidden gem when I found it online. Core shifters seems to be the only one making it.

You should be able to shift without clutch as well in the sweet spot. Just have to do it slowly which with short shifter is not easy.

I was was referring to while driving. I don’t think you want to go into reverse doing that.

The engine is off while shifting through the gears. Transmedic transmission said you should be able to go into reverse just as easily but mine cannot.

Next time your driving try shifting with no clutch like a trucker.;)

I have successfully shifted with no clutch on all manual trans in the driveway. The easiest were the VW Jetta and BJ40. NV4500 is the hardest to do. Maybe because of the synchros that you have to be exactly in the sweet spot. Like Mike said 4th for some reason is the easiest.

Here the Maradyne fans I bought from Mike on Friday.

Here’s the fan controller I’m looking at.

Pretty slick little unit. I assume no relays are needed with it?

Got the fan in. Checked wire orientation. So fans pull air in through radiator and into engine bay. Blue is + and black is -. It blows the wrong way when you reverse polarity.

Yesterday driving around I think my biggest problem without fans is that the intercooler is blocking all my cool air. The stock water temp gauge got up to the highest of ever seen it. Still in the okay range but definitely concerning considering it was cooler outside. Not going to be driving it as far especially due to our hilly terrain.

With only one fan on it was moving a lot of air. Can’t wait to get the controller and get these running.

I’ve read the back of the motor is a better location for the water temp sensor. Is this the location with the plug?

Yup. That’s where I pull my coolant for the heater but I think it’s the stock sensor location on the 6BT.
