The cruiser is a totally different animal now

I believe it! I had the same experience. Get to know your "new" truck, and work out all the kinks, before doing any other significant mods.

I wish I could relive the moment when I first drove Moonshine after the conversion. What a feeling that was.

After reading and discussions decided SOA is the route to go. So many more options and gives me more of what I’m looking for. The Ruff Stuff kit has 2 options for caster plate angle, 0 and 10 degrees. How do you choose which to get?

Talked to Ruff Stuff. The angle is for a cut and turn or 10 degree if I don’t do cut and turn. Which is recommended?

Looks like I’ll be going with 3” exhaust. Exhaust shop in Sandy can bend the pipe which will be nice. I’ve read threads on 4BTswaps and really a 4” pipe on a 4BT only effects sound and I’d imagine a little lower exhaust temp. What sizes are you guys running?

I have a 3 inch now. I ran with a 2.5 inch for years before that. Go big now, so you don't have to mess with it later, exhaust temps can be a pain to solve.

Got a recommendation from an off-road fab shop today in Estacada of a good exhaust shop. They do their exhaust and said they are good and 1/2 price of most shops. I’m going to call on Monday. I really don’t see the need of a 4”. My dodge 3500 has a 4” and I haul a pickup camper and tow a 3 horse trailer fully loaded. 4” seems over kill for a 4BT other then it would sound good and lower EGTs.

This fab shop makes some awesome sliders, custom bumpers, tire racks and suspension. Really good prices. $325 for a set rock sliders welded to frame.

When you mentioned go big were you thinking 4” Mike?

The 2F motor must have a lot lower oil pressure then the 4BT. My oil pressure gauge quickly goes up to High. I know diesels have higher pressure but is this the same on yours?

For the longest time I thought it was my exhaust that was restricting my boost. I went from 2.5 to 3 inch with no difference in boost or EGT. Then I realized my intake was restricted because I had a custom waterproof air box made. Once I deleted that and advanced the pump a bit boost increased and EGTs went down to manageable numbers.

Cut and turn. Do some more reading, you'll see why.

3" imho.

Yes I thought 3” would be plenty. @davegonz recommended a Aeroturbine 3030XL. It is a straight flow design with a built in resonator. Knowing he had a 4BT setup it seems like a great idea.
I’m ordering the 0 degree caster from Ruff Stuff today after reading and advise from other MUD members. Thanks Johnny

Any of you guys have the oil pressure sensor read High on the stock gauge? I know the diesel will have higher oil pressure but it’s totally topped out.

I am running the stock *oil pressure* sensor/sender, and do not have that problem.

When you hooked up the sensor, did you put the wire on the tab that comes off the side, or the top post?

I’ll have to check. Are you thinking it’s wired backwards.
