I like the SUA look but do like the SOA with ability to go about anywhere. You said you're considering going SOA, but you already fit everything SUA. "Suspension discussions need to be talked about." isn't enough for anyone to provide you any sort of advice
As a question, or describe your dilemma, and we can help. If you want pros and cons of going SOA, search![]()
Backcountry travel but is also my DD. My goal is bead locks so I can air down tires for back country travel to remote forest service cabins in the snow. SOA seems most logical to me but thought I’d throw out the question. Driving it yesterday allowed me to question myself about this again. I just talked to my buddy Matt who has an 80’s SOA 4Runner... and of course he votes SOA.Do you intend to wheel this fairly hard, or will this be a pavement pounder with some gravel roads thrown in there?
Your intended use of the vehicle is most important here.
The cruiser is a totally different animal nowIf I were you, I'd leave the suspension as it is for now. Work on getting all the little things right with the engine swap first, and then drive the truck a whole lot to see how you like the suspension. If you find it lacking for the back country travel, then go SOA.
