I plan on going Spring Green, a really light mint green from one model year in the 1960s. Not period correct, but I like it.
I was thinking spring (or fashion) green as well - such an awesome color on these trucks. Lately I've been leaning toward keeping mine white though - since most of my hardware is black anyway... Really eager to see how yours turns out! What was yours originally?

Those seats don't look stock to me. I believe stock seats in 1976 were not full-back seats (no integrated head-rest like those have). I think you could get adjustable headrests (not sure about that) but the seats themselves were low-back. I also believe the stitching in the fabric was vertical, as opposed to horizontal. Hello all, lots of new FJ40 owners today. Glad to be one of them!
After some great advice on what to purchase, I ignored it all (j/k) and bought a once red (and yellow evidently), now peeling maroon '76. Got a great price on it at $4K, but it needs lots of love.
My question, where do I start?
Main question:
It has a Weber carb on it, but no air cleaner. I plan to buy the Australian Weber air cover that Sarge or someone recommended (the oval one). What do I do in the meantime (sister in Aus, hoping she can get one and ship it here)?
Second issue - to get it running, and drive it to get new tires (old ones are dry rotted - it has been sitting for a "couple" of years (like 5-10 maybe), I need to ensure it will start. Currently it requires starter fluid or gas to be poured into the carb to fill the bowl. What's up with that? Carbs are not that familiar to me.

Before you say it - the Bezel is upside down. I know, I know.
Not surprised on the need to pour gas into the carb to get it started--that's a weber trait--float bowl completely open to atmosphere-3 days and all the fuel evaporates(esp since there is no air cleaner on it) My vote is to go back to an oem carb--Aisan Get that in the works while you check all the fluid stuff to make sure all the lube is ok. Then drive it to see where your next fix should be Body can wait a few til you have a good plan--you know the drill. Sorry I chimed in on this thread so late--great build so far-sounds like you are well prepared for the onslaught

Well, no response from them yet, but at least I'll research this before buying any used hubs.
