I like your engine hoist bar where did you buy

It. I looked at HB and i make one stronger
Than theirs and have a way to hook to the hoist.

I got it from an auction from a restaurant supply company. $37. Had to buy a new bottle, but for a total of $100, American made steel lift.

Just picked up this tool for $25. Wonder if it'll work to remove the pilot bearing without having to stuff bread in it?

Any bets?

End slips in hole, then the post is screwed in to both secure the end from coming out, and pushes on whatever the heck is behind the pilot bearing.

May have to grind down the ears a bit , but it should be able to work . One of the tool companies at one time made one like that in a kit with several sizes of heads that screwed onto the tip , wish I had bought that thing when I saw it then ....now can't find one .
Sarge

I was looking for a cheap base for making a Transmission Output Shaft Bearing Puller from a Timing Gear puller. Stumbled across this.

I've found exactly one person that owns what appears to be the Master Bearing Puller Kit from Toyota on this board. Unfortunately, he has not yet responded to my inquiry.

Back home again. Been traveling a lot lately.

Printed out 3 wiring diagrams today - someone's personal drawing of a '78 FJ40, the FSM 1976 diagram, and Haynes 1976 diagram. Between the 3, hopefully I can figure out the wiring.

First task is to get the starter to turn the motor over to check compression.

Ok, checked compression. Good news 150, 130, 150, 150, 145, 140. image-1828701080.webp Thanks Craig (vtgbeemer) for the setup instructions image-1496845511.webp 1 image-4245316949.webp 2 image-2387581453.webp 3 image-1962878724.webp 4 image-1508042042.webp 5 image-3617287169.webp 6

Once, the engine/starter/battery combo decided to just keep on keeping on. I had to shock it again to get it to quit. Pretty funny if it weren't about to wallow itself out of the garage.

Great numbers . Now you can set your plan on how to proceed.

Great news on the compression! I just ran mine and my #6 is down to 75 but others are 130 to 145. Before I bought my cruiser I remember reading on MUD about how someone should never buy a 40 unless they are ready to dump a ton of cash in it. Man, they were correct!!!

You are going to have a sweet ride when all is done. Hang in there.

The body is lighter than you'd expect but it can be a bit awkward with three people (especially if the third person is your wife).

A tape measure will help you with your second question. I had a local car hauler strap it down on a medium-size trailer when I sold my tub locally.

Thanks Chris. I went out to start cutting out the weather stripping, and I got cold feet. I want to remove it carefully instead of destroying it in case in the mean time (2 years) while my body is getting painted, it Mr T decides to stop making weather stripping, I won't be SOL at SOR buying even more expensive NOS.

Build Cost Update

Time for a financial update. Reached the point where I'm not buying much at the moment, mostly time spent "doing."

Since it has been a few weeks. Still anticipating another $15K in parts and some labor (I'm doing just about everything except blasting at this point).
