In the flat part with the tubes the evaporator? How important is that for the Landcruiser? Does it keep the smell of gas under control? I took mine off back in 84. And my son says that's why it stinks of gas?Spent the holiday weekend blasting and cerakoting metal and plasticoating plastic parts.

It's the SEM product line. Stuff works really well. The blue can is optional IMO but I still use it. It's a cleaner. What process and product did you use to coat the plastic parts?
I don't claim to understand that part but yes, fuel separator. I think that, plus the charcoal canister get rid of the gas fumes. In the flat part with the tubes the evaporator? Yes, that's the kit I bought! I'm running toward the end of that kit. I have used all my OEM bolts and nuts first and then supplemented with the kit.Overland Metric also has a nice selection of bulk JIS fasteners.

I totally agree. The weight and feel of the OEM fasteners is top notch. Afterall, they have stood the test of time. I suppose that they are zink plated but not really sure. Since we live on the coast, however, corrosion is definitely a consideration, even though stainless is significantly softer than OE. Now then...it is nice to have a wide assortment of OM on hand for those occasions when I spy from across the garage a non-JIS 13mm hex head. No time to tract down the OE part number, that 13mm has to be snuffed out pronto! I think they should add this as an Olympic event. My experience, and nothing against OM, I have them a few places in mine, but the metal is softer too.
I recently rebuilt both diffs, and got the OM diff kits, the lock washer on one got ruined getting it to torque specs. It bothered me for that location - so I got OEM as the metal was harder.
I love the consistency of look using OM inside the rig (bolts for roof) tranny cover, evaporate door - but for areas that need more than “guten tight” I won’t use.
My unsolicited experience and opinion.
Exactly- I have a lot of these too in my spare bolts sets too for a quick grabI totally agree. The weight and feel of the OEM fasteners is top notch. Afterall, they have stood the test of time.
