Hey all,

I need to replace the cats and forward on my exhaust. it's all leaky and the previous owner cobbled together a bunch of mismatched parts to make it work. Does anyone have good brands for the downpipe and cats? I found these on Rockauto but I'm not familiar with the brands. has anyone had any experience with them? Thanks for the info

OEM parts are still available if you can stomach the cost.

Oh that may be an option.

it seems like $500 for Davico / AP Eastern
$950 for Magnaflow
and I would guess $1400 for Toyota parts...

I have used the Ansi parts with no issues.
where do you buy Ansi parts? I couldn't find them on a quick google search

I used the magnaflow y pipe with first and second cat and it fit up great with no problems.

The magniflow Y pipe and Cats work great.
Their muffler came aprat internallly and the baffels rattled something awful.

On rock auto..

Ah I didn't see you wanted cat forward...

I was looking at exhaust
no worries. I didn't specify outside of the picture.

I'm leaning towards the Magnaflow option currently. A co-worker used them as well and he likes them.

I have a Borla muffler and tailpipe waiting that I got off of a coworker so I shouldn't have to worry about muffler quality problems.

plus O'reilly is having a sale and I can get $50 off.

it's all just a touch on the expensive side and kills me a bit... but it is what it is.

weirdly enough, the current cats on the truck are labelled as magnaflow. but either they are the weld in type or are for the wrong year truck because the y-pipe diameter is possibly too small. at least it looks smaller than my buddies' 97 magnaflow y-pipe.

I'll see what I can get the wife to agree to.

Thanks All!

I used the Magnaflow downpipes/cat, the Magnaflow muffler, and had a local hot rod shop build a custom over the frame exhaust out of T304 stainless. Exits behind the right rear tire level with the rear bumper skids.
I supplied all new OEM hardware/hangers/donuts/O2 sensors, and had the downpipes/cat ceramic coated before installation.
Passes inspection with a single cat. No issues.

I know OTTRAM built exhaust for the 80’s. Really nice stuff.

Not sure about the y-pipe though…

I went with the Magnaflow Y-pipe and 2nd cat and paired it with a new OEM muffler, tailpipe, and all new insulators, bolts and gaskets. Purrs very quietly. 😁

I used magnaflow y pipe and second cat and bosal (now BRE, comes in magnaflow box and label) for the rest. It all bolted up pretty good and sounds fine. I didnt but it all at once but it wasnt too bad $$ wise. sound is a little droney compared to stock. one added benefit of the muffler is its a smaller diameter but longer tube so same volume but rides higher in the frame, so its harder to smack against rocks.

Anyone have a parts list with P/Ns on...

The aftermarket parts used?
(Or the oem parts if you used those?)
The Toyota hardware used to secure it?

See the posting by @COYS with a google sheet of part numbers.

I got a new (front to back) Manta SS 2.5 from Australia. Working well (other than have leak from stretched manifold bolt that need to Helicoil). Added a single Magnaflow cat ; seems ok. Did have to get bung for O2 sensors

Nice, let's see some pics! We'd like to see the over the frame part in particular, and the early exit. Thanks.

Difficult to get decent pics without putting her on a lift and removing skids. Basically out of the Magnaflow cat, up and over the frame to the muffler.

Out of the muffler, following the OEM path, over the right rear frame rail and exit just shy of the bottom of the frame.
