You can also use Coca-Cola to remove corrosion, as the phosphoric acid in the drink will dissolve it. Pour a cupful and soak the parts in it... Then you have to wash with soap and water to get the sugar off of it...
Vinegar and salt work well too! You can make pickles while you're at it!
Since you're going to this extreme, you can do whatever you want as far as relays. They will generate some heat during operation, so they are typically placed in the engine compartment as well as for fire isolation purposes and heat output (to keep it out of the cabin.) (was I redundant enough there?)
Since you are in a warm environment and don't need anything related to cold weather, I would remove it to save space, weight, and so there aren't more things to go wrong.
