Yet another question...

Here we dont use heater...defogger and being diesel...no efi etc relays...

How wise would it be to move all relays inside to Relay block 1...I have enough empty slots...

I could end up using the fender for a small toolbox etc...

How hot is hot?

You can also use Coca-Cola to remove corrosion, as the phosphoric acid in the drink will dissolve it. Pour a cupful and soak the parts in it... Then you have to wash with soap and water to get the sugar off of it...

Vinegar and salt work well too! You can make pickles while you're at it!

Since you're going to this extreme, you can do whatever you want as far as relays. They will generate some heat during operation, so they are typically placed in the engine compartment as well as for fire isolation purposes and heat output (to keep it out of the cabin.) (was I redundant enough there?)

Since you are in a warm environment and don't need anything related to cold weather, I would remove it to save space, weight, and so there aren't more things to go wrong.

As always...great replies

Here its now 35 degrees celcius and summer reaches 49+...winter is around 16...extremes reach 8 but very rare and very late at night. ..typical desert climate.

For the relays guess I will place them in the engine bay....sounds like a worthwhile precaution...

Coca cola.....hmmmmmm....would prefer it with ice.....and a squeeze of lime....

Well this sucks but I have to report, your package was returned to me and was deemed, "undeliverable and unmailable under current export laws" not really sure what to do about it now. If I didn't have a government job I would probably just try and resend it and mark it as cookies or something but in my position I can't really break the laws. If someone else's wants to try and mail it I can ship it to them. But just so you know shipping via DHL cost me $112.

Boltripper - paid for half of everything but given the current circumstances I won't be cashing his check.

Sorry to get your hopes up!!! Never in a million years did I think it would be against the law to send shrink wrap, electrical tape, terminal ends, and sheathing, seems ridiculous to me.

That really sucks....and the trouble I put u guys through hurts my guts.. if DHL will do it..I will pay them here in advance...

I really apologise for the inconvenience. ..wish I could do something even close to what u guys did...

No DHL won't do it, at least as marked, if you truthfully identify the contents on the customs form. I had already paid and it should have been to you but customs refused to export the package. :-/

Moegasim, is there a way I can ship it to you from Uganda? We can throw the stuff in the container and get it to you from Jinja.

im really sorry u had to pay so much....i dont know how i can ever repay you and Boltripper's kindness...its just my bad luck.....

please dont trouble yourselves anymore....consider it arrived and made good use of....and maybe u can extend your generosity and give the package to someone in ur reach...guess everyone needs a shrink wrap now and then :D

Thank you for your concern, but to my knowledge, shipping anything in Africa costs more than getting it from as far as US or Australia......thats why most of our traders bring in for example wood from China as opposed to Uganda or even as close as South Sudan.....we are still in the developing phase...the more our gov are corrupt, the longer we as the people have to wait....it just sucks....but thank you again

hope to make progress this week.....i officially took a week off work....u guys have given me so much advice and moral support, i feel its my duty now to finish my cruiser....or should i say our cruiser...

I knew i was on the right track being here on Mud....i really appreciate everyone's comment here.

Thank you

The Plan....so far

well....here is the layout...very draft....to what i need in terms of fuses, relays, wires and splices.

fuse.jpg

could any of u advice me if these would work for connecting for example the FL main to a number of fuses/relays....or would i be better off with a thicker wire and splice into it for each connection to fuse/relay box?

Headlight and the h4 bulb

hi all...sorry was away sick....couldnt do anything the past few days.. :(

i have an issue...the PO had installed an after market , very low quality, headlight harness. im trying to set things right....got myself new H4 halogen bulbs 12v 100/90w (0443E, the three pin two bulb thing)....

the issue is, most of the sites i see indicate that the common wire (black) goes to ground....where as Toyota is ground switched.....

the question is.....can i use the common wire to connect from the relay fuse and the hi/low back to the switch (i.e. ground)....????? will that work or will i fry my wires and/or switch??? and what wire gauge would i need to connect them?

did a quick test outside and the lamps light up....but will that work for hours of usage?

please help

simple diagram of what im talking about....
