Did a few bits and bobs this week.

Got the engine bay finally cleaned up as best as possible.

Before

After

@slcfj62 harness installed. Such an easy plug and play, and the difference in brightness is literally night and day. Under that is an intelligent solenoid for the dual battery system

Wired up both the front and rear Rigid Dually's.

Installed a rather important sticker, in case anyone forgets! This is OEM from the Toyota dealer.

This morning I got cracking on installing a plywood base for my storage set up. It is secured with 4 bolts that are in place of the original tie down hooks.

I have an old set of Adventure Trailer drawers (I think I purchased them in 2008/9). Solid work they do.

All squared away.

Went out on a shakedown run last weekend. It was nice to finally get out after nearly several months of avoiding the heat.

A few issues we ran into:

- Exhaust pipe bolts snapped from the bracket under the PS side and was banging on the underside of the body
- Transfer case would pop out of 4H into 2H under hard acceleration up a dune. No issues with 4L. Searching around here shows that its an easy fix with a few washers in the transfer case bracketery, which can be accessed from the tunnel in the cab
- Transfer case has been leaking small drops overnight. It does not seem to be coming from the output shaft seal, but will take a closer look
- Lastly, AC idle kick up is not working. Need to get the vacuum lines and solenoid looked at. The wagon feels like its going to stall whenever I am idling with the AC on.

I thought I posted this earlier but here's the storage panel with the fuse box and 100A circuit breaker.

You did a fantastic restoration with tasteful and practical modifications that looks beautiful! Very nice.

Yesterday we snuck in a quick day trip to go hiking. The Mule did well, except it struggled up the mountain passes steep grades. A couple of times we were in 2nd gear going 40km/h. The clutch seemed to slipp a couple of times on the outbound leg up some of the passes, but thankfully nothing on the return leg. Will keep an eye on that. Getting the transfer case to shift from 4H to 2H was a proper b*tch at the end of the trail. Took several attempts, including driving for a bit and trying again before it worked. I thought I was going to snap the lever! Last but not least, and thankfully only happened a few blocks from home in a residential neighbourhood, making a right turn, the truck went straight onwards! Crawled under and discovered the nut for the PS tie rod end was missing. Thankfully it happened there and not on the highway! Tried as best to secure it with some ratchet straps and limped home.

Enough of that, here are some pics.

Nothing beats a 5am start.

The mountains are calling

Some perspective on size

Back where we parked up. Prepping for some breakfast

Heading back

Saw the Mule's older brother parked on the side of the road feeling lonely.

Glad the tie-rod end didn't come apart on the highway! Seems like a few of these events have been happening recently on the boards. Probably a good idea for everyone to check theirs!
Such as awesome rig, keep the photos coming!

Ordered a set of 3 lap belts for the rear bench seat from Seatbelts Plus. I've used these in my other Cruisers and they're great. Especially for the child seats, you can really tighten them down.

Came with all the mounting hardware

With front seat belt options somewhat limited, and after not getting a response from a seat belt supplier that others have used from the 60 section, I was in need of a solution. A couple of months ago I was down at the junkyard and saw a rolled GRJ79 pickup. Thought why not, lets give those seat belts a shot. Yanked them out and test fitted one into a 62 that was also at the yard and it fit with a bit of wiggling. So with that in mind, yesterday I went down to the dealer and picked up a set of front seat belts for a 2016 70 series.

Hey Boozewz

I know this is an old post but its very helpful. I need new lap belts for my 60's back seat and yours look up to snuff. I am in dire straights cause I bought mine about 2 months ago and the current belts are broken as well as greasy as all get out. In about 3 weeks I have to take my girlfriend's 4 person family to the airport in the Cruiser and it needs to be as good as it can be (Older Sister is O.C.D. as hell, I am a bit too but not in a rude passive aggressive way that criticizes people).

So I'm wondering what exactly you got from seatbelts plus? I want to be on the money which I have no trouble assuming you were.

Thank You!!!

Wade,

These are the belts.

Got the 60" length. Be sure to order the hardware set as well. It can be seen at the bottom of the page.

Hope this helps!

Did another trip last weekend. Found a nice secluded spot to camp, and next morning we had an early start on a 10hr hike.

Filling up with the big boys on the way out of town

It was 11pm by the time we got to the area and set up camp.

We drove to the trail head and hiked out from here

The big drop on the way back

Fantastic build story and photos! Congrats on a very nice 62.

Question for you re: Dynamat and Dynaliner. How do you decide which one to put where? I'd love to lower the noise in the cabin of my 76 and am considering sound deadening. I know there's various products and whatnot but is the Mat supposed to be only on floors and Liner in the doors and ceiling?
