I think maybe if your old seats had had still had the OEM gray and the headrests to make Garth happy I don’t think I would have thought about the seats but now I’m super glad we did these.

A little more to the story. Cool Cruisers came up with these brackets to work with their Bestop seats and normally only sell these with their seats. I’ve been a long loyal customer and the owner, Stephen was kind enough to let me have a set of these plates.

Yeah we could have had a sub frame made but I love these beautifully powdered OEM brackets.

I did have to drill holes for the Scheelmann slides. Not a big deal. I got one done and I’m pooped. I’ll get the other in tomorrow

Id guesstimate these give you as much leg room as the bracket flip/tall guy mod you can do. These seats are SUPER pimp

Looks great. Curious, maybe I missed it but did you set out with any goals for this build? I know generally you're renovating and updating but are you pursuing comfort, modernization, a certain type of restomod? Maybe all of the above LOL?

Regardless the work looks beautiful.

Happy Friday! :beer::beer:

@BigHighBlue I do not recall any specific goals. The Cop motor kind of started the discussion and then the rest just happened. Some more thought out than others. There were things, like the new steering box, that just happened because it was available. My old one was not so bad but why not a new one?

More drivable.

3.70 diffs….split case. Gear whine elimination package…..

70% more horsepower

No leaks …..

Clean slate.

My goal was to keep it looking the same as when I first saw it but a few more upgrades. This truck has the most perfect “patina” “story” …. Whatever you want to call it….

The only Cruiser I have with a leak is the OddBall 80. I’m waiting for the clutch to poop out then I’ll take care of it….
If I would bother to seal up my t-case I'd be good, until then it's old school rustproofing!

I think the pair of those seats cost almost as much as I paid for the Cruiser...

I spent about an hour with a local guy that is bidding on my FJ55 on Bring a Trailer and then got back to work

Fun stuff like bending and building brake lines. @FJ60Cam told me to buy this fancy bend/flare tool but I need to figure that thing out on my time not John’s so I used my old manual tool

If you don’t have one of these Motive bleeders then you need to go to Amazon now and get one.
The best feeling ever is to pump this thing up to 15 PSI and raise the Cruiser and have zero leaks in a fully redone brake system on the first shot.

Mustard is now a roller. Time to get that driveline in the main shop …..

That brake line flare tool takes about 1 minute to figure out and i bet you’ll find is one of the best tool purchases you've made

Ah I see....I think that's called the "Mo Betta" package. I also have a "78 mustard and I love to see what the future may hold for me. I'm way at the beginning of the journey which is also the destination of course. Thanks for the great content and cheers!

What’s the 400kg sticker about?
