Correct. I had to do this on mine when going from SF to FF. Cut perches off. I used some pre-fab perches from RuffStuff Specialties.
Dominic burned them on for me when I was visiting Georg at VH. Gotta obviously measure for pinion angle too. That way no shims needed.
Looks clean from here(rust belt).
My blaster/coater will knock it out.

Got the first 3rd done this morning. Took me 3 tries to get the pattern correct. I can usually take an educated guess and get in 1 or 2 tries. None the less it set up very well.

awesome, I grew up in a log cabin home That had been added on to, and Not near as cool as yours. It was built in 1898, 8100’ in elevation. That’s some tough winters in Colorado In a log cabin.

Did you dial in a little pinion angle toward the Tcase? I won’t be using the full spring pack ....stock length shackles. I don’t usually use shim packs in the rear even with a shorter FJ40 driveshaft

On SuA you should set the pinion at the same angle as the rear tcase output.

Yeah, that is correct with non-CV driveshafts.
With a CV at the Tcase you point the rear pinion at the tcase.
With a non-CV you want the joints to be within 3* of each other. Horizontal on both if possible.
I’m on a conf call and double tasking but this is what is correct.

I usually assemble everything, leave the perches un welded, lower the rig on its wheels, then measure for pinion angle. I actually put the rig in gear and rock it to achieve the correct angle!( u bolts not quite tight!) then tack weld, disassemble and weld up. All info above is spot on.

Everything is pulled. The Tcase fluid was silver. Looks like it was possibly rebuilt so that may just be the mesh mess. I never drove it fast enough to hear any noise.
The paint job is nice and shiny but it leaves a lot to be desired if you step into its personal space

I was able to get some parts out of the Lions den last night. Donor housing from a 77 FJ40 and an FJ60 front for the knuckles and such. If you have never been to Metric in Grand Junction Co. Go walk around and scrape your jaw off the floor. I have been good friends with the owner since 2nd grade. Mike is a dam good dude, getting parts out of him is tough. But he understands what he has. If you want stuff done to your Cruiser they do too notch work.
Truly unreal.

Haven’t heard from Mr Goodnight in many years. I bet my 65 short wheelbase removable top is out in that yard somewhere! 3b turbo, h55,4w disc brakes! Think I sold it 10 years ago. Glad to see the yard full, real good guy.
