It looks like it is technically gen market … Japan didn’t have fj40 in 80’ they gave all their guys BJ’s :) … and Hong Kong spec is the oval air cleaner … Australia didn’t do the oil bath in 80’ the had paper only and cyclone option
So when...
If I was to do it over, there were some options i would've pursued vs the Topnault tub. Should the front bulkhead been salvageable I would've gone the Aqualu route. Simply the easiest for the DIY'r.
Sourcing a tub from Colorado or the Southwest...
@JKIII FJ40 went that route with a full primer body… think he had fitment issues as well and imperfections he had to fix … but… he didn’t have much to go with on the stock tub
I have seen his after he got all the extra work done and it looks...
I have done both sewn and or copper riveting. Hot rod the holes in nylon strap first. I have even done drilled copper pennies with stainless steel pop rivets.
my big concern at the time was getting rid of the time bomb fuel pump lol got a block off plate I think from Jim even @Downey at the time
went to Weber because the dealerships sucked my me long ago and couldn't get a kit for it ... I had Weber...
I run a $10 diode electric fuel pump and have for many years, decades in fact. It is mounted below the battery box. My carb is the Rochester 2bbl that came on the my 72 back in 82.
I get in, switch on the key - listen for the fuel pump to quit...
I run the “box pump” style like Charlie and have for over 25 years … also run a weber 38
They are best as far below the tank as you can get them … I ran mine in and around that area forever till this past year … got a cheapo from Amazon and it...
@cruiserdan does deserve his own history thread, even if he has a slight addiction with Mopar nonsense :D

What ever happened to the inventory from the shop Greg Miller had in Sandy UT? If you had a Land Cruiser in Arizona in the 1980S and 1990s good chance you bought parts from Tin Hill. He never went to the Internet to sell parts. Was always word of...
Greg never had parts stored in Sandy. The Proffits Cruisers storyline deserves it's own thread but when Proffits closed their Colorado location, all those new and used parts ended up in Tooele, Utah. They later moved in a few dozen ConEx...
Sadly I do not. When I purchased the shop from Darrell in late 2001, technically taking over January 1st 2002, all of the shop equipment and the vast majority of the used parts were purchased by Marv and Kay Spector. I helped broker the deal and...
Nice … much better SR setup then I got (old MAF rock finder)
Love the bumper jack… I got its twin … limited use these days but great for pulling winch assembles off in one piece by yourself
Hope you still have it !!
Love the long time...
Back to the Mongrel :D
(Cut and turn complete, steering stops welded back in place. In hindsight those knuckle balls were pretty rough BUT it was a free (for my part-out labor) axle and I was on a broke college kid budget, it would do. Before...

My tub was somewhere else when we finished up some of the frame items including sliders, so a random spare tub was placed on my now roller chassis to setup the sliders. These are built to have roughly the same shape as factory step...
Finally removed old drivers side window frame and transferred all the new felts and wing window to new frame.
Kept the old cracked glass till it finally breaks or shatters.
You can put a clutch master kit easy enough. Or just get a new master. When you go to put the master back in, take a hacksaw and cut a screw driver slot in the bolt that is behind the vacuum booster - much easier to to r/r in the future...
1996 FZJ 75, Gulf States Spec (1FZ-F, five speed, A/C, heat, power windows and chrome!), registered and insured in CT, 238,000 KM, the only rust on the truck are bubbles on the windshield frame. Everything works except the auxiliary tank...
