Celebrated the five month anniversary of the arthroplasty by building some fence today. 🥳 💪

Gotta love those ball and claw joints, and home depot screws 😂.

Second after market coil failure, right in the throws of full time ranch work 😡. Ordered one of Chase’s @Cruiser Cult NOS Toyota ones, hope it lasts longer than the two after market ones did (2-3 years).

It actually isn’t dead. But my brain is cuz I wasn’t using the multimeter correctly. What a putz 😂

Intermittent flickering of the Speed Hut electronic tachometer, harder cold starts. Once running, no problems incl warm/hot starts. Last time this happened my coil was kaput (secondary resistance was open) and the rig wouldn’t start at all. But the current one is ~3.6 ohms primary and ~7000 ohms secondary which is perfect in-spec. So, checking other things. There still is the chance I guess that this one is on the path to death, being there’s no real way to monitor this up until they die. But maybe the flickering electronic tachometer is the skookum health monitor 😂.

A liitle more choke at cold startup today and she cranked right over, ran great with several hot starts over the 3-hour tour of the upland ground we just pushed 150 cow/calf pairs (and 4 bulls) onto, 400-lbs of mineral salt blocks and several fly dust bags distributed. Not sure why possum wants a little more choke these days at startup but I did clean the air cleaners so maybe it’s getting too much air 😂. Clean filters won’t last long with all the dust around here.

Paper filter or oil bath? If oil bath….How’s the oil bath do in your environment?

Cleanable paper. I have this setup for the oil bath but missing the hose-to-carb hat plenums.

Cool article! Also, I love the train horns under the hood. hahaha.
Lol, all this time I did’t even notice those. Can’t imagine how loud they must have been.

I have seen horror stories due to salt blocks. Hope you rinse off or have a tarp below

Found one thing screwed up in one of the 413S carbs that was messing with its acceleration pump, fixed it and things are better. But the tach is still twerking a bit at higher RPMs (😂 that’s 2000 for this old cowboy). Coil resistance still checks out ok, but my dwell is very low. So I’ll take a look at the points and gap tomorrow. I have a non-USA OEM dizzy, can’t find anything specific on replacement point part numbers (email to city racer is in where I got the dizzy to see if they know). Maybe it’s just too much gap, we’ll see. Wondering if that’s causing the tach jumping, but the dwell meter is steady. ‘65 parts catalog says dizzy points are 19142-29020 and several sources say 04191-40010 replaced those. Anyone know anything about what points work in these non-USA OEM dizzys?

What's the part number on the tag on the housing? Starts with 19100-

I think with more snooping it looks like the replacement point set is actually 04191-41010 for this dizzy. Or 19145-41020. 😂

🤷‍♂️
