I pushed out the rubber with the press, used a sawzall to notch a section of the bushing sleeve

This is how I plan to replace mine...did the HF press the new ones in okay?

HF 20 ton press put the new ones in just fine. I used emory cloth to dress up the inside of the holes in the arms and the new bushings went right in.

Spacex rocket sighting while in the 80 tonight... made me feel like I was riding on a dinosaur

PS caliper was fully compressed before I even removed it. Not doing a thing.

Then the day just went right down hill. NAPA had both calipers in stock. DS caliper had the mounting threads painted over so bad it took almost an hour to get the threads to take. Went back to NAPA looking for a tap, no luck. Went to Advance Auto, no luck. M12x1.25 not included in my Harbor Freight set. Finally took an impact to it and got lucky it threaded properly. Mount it up and realize things look off. Spend an hour messing with it. Another trip back to NAPA and seems the wrong caliper was in the box. Pretty much wasted the whole day and now can't finish till Monday when they get a replacement caliper in. I have new pads already, now considering new rotors too just to have it done while I'm in there.

Can anyone say if this little box and wiring is stock? It's on the Cammo cruiser a0nd squeaking constantly as I drive. It did have an aftermarket alarm installed, wondering if this is part of it.

M12X1.25 taps rarely even come in the professional tap and die sets. One way to get one is in an M10X1.25 Heli-coil kit. I can't verify it's exactly the right size, but it does work as a thread chaser.

The box in your picture looks factory, but it appears there is an aftermarket relay hanging next to it.

How did you apply the Chassis Saver? It looks really good.
With a brush. I will prime and top coat the rear most section of the bumper that you will see once I put the cladding back on. I will use Rustoleum Professional Series spray paint for that.

No pictures, sorry.

I took apart my intake and reinstalled hoping that was the cause of the vacuum leak and rough idle. I believe that the vacuum leak is one of the two hoses running from the valve cover to the intake manifold or the vacuum hose running from the manifold to the brake booster. I am going to do the carb cleaner trick or even soapy water.

But I did have my battery and alternator tested; the battery tested bad. So I replaced it with a Duralast Gold from Autozone. It is rated 750 CCA, 935 cranking amps, reserve capacity of 130, and most importantly 5-year warranty (3-year free replacement, 2-years prorated). The only issue I encountered was the negative terminal. It would not tighten down enough. So I flipped it over and insured there was enough slack in the negative cable so it would not come apart.

Been a busy weekend so far... And I still have tomorrow off :).

  1. New shoes - Toyo Open Country AT2 285/75 R16's (local tire shop matched Amazon price so that saved me $50/tire)
  2. Tightened front wheel bearings to 25ft/lb inner nut, 47 ft/lb outer nut
  3. Topped off knuckles with moly grease
  4. Replaced all bushings in front control arms and panhard with OEM
  5. Cleaned front axle breather fitting
  6. Replaced rear end caps on running boards
  7. Added rechargeable motion sensing LED light bar to flip up window

Replaced control arm bushings. HF 20 ton press wasn't cutting it (safely) and so I pushed out the rubber with the press, used a sawzall to notch a section of the bushing sleeve, and then chiseled out the notch section. The old bushings practically fall out at that point.

Rechargeable light bar for LCP window. It came with internal mounting magnets that weren't worth crap, but I epoxied several neodymium magnets to the back and it holds tight to the adhesive metallic strip that came with the light.

The motion sensor works great! Open the side window or the rear hatch and the light comes on and stays lit as long as you are present. Close the window/hatch and 20 seconds later the light goes off. Motion sensor does not activate through glass, so walking around the vehicle won't set it off.

This is the light I used: https://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable...538961636&sr=8-3&keywords=78+led+closet+light

Does the motion light activate when the window is closed and you are in the back? It would be great to find a motion that works ONLY when the window is open.

Does the motion light activate when the window is closed and you are in the back? It would be great to find a motion that works ONLY when the window is open.

Still working through that issue.

No effect if front seat passengers are moving around. Back seat passengers seem to set it off.

My solution to that is to make a partial shield around the motion sensor so that only activity from the rear (hatch and liftgate) will set it off. In my case, the stock rearmost dome light is buried above the attic rack stuff so I WANT the LED strip to come on when I open the rear liftgate and hatch. The light also has an optional daylight setting so that it will not activate regardless during daytime.

Made more progress. All of that painted stuff is going in this week. Still need to fill the rear end with foam and then Bondo over it, but everything else will last and I will be able to easily remove everything when the time comes to really deal with the rotten corners. This was the worst spot on the truck, by far and this will at least mitigate the issue for now.

The rear portion of the frame should now hold up as long as the truck does once I spray oil inside the cavities that the barn doors in the rear most body panel conceal. Those are weird. Why are they so big?

The temperature finally dropped so the wife and I took the dogs out to the desert.

How were the beds in your cheap motel there? I'll bet the view was great in the morning, but not much privacy!

We had all the privacy you could ask for. No other campers within sight in any direction. The desert really can provide some solitude.
