This is pretty darn close to the tipping point ;). Without the yellow strap, if you went about 6"higher with the forks it would be possible to manually push it over onto its side. Great access to the underside though..:)

Man, your rig is so clean!

Kept the Icon shocks on there, but swapped in some Dobies.

Having had a steering box apart for a reseal, I can tell you there is nothing in there that isn't solid. Any chance you twisted the sector (output) shaft? A little twist will be very noticeable at the steering wheel.

As far as I can tell no, I didn’t want to take off the pitman arm so think the best I can do adjust it and leave it be.

@Qball, I would have done the same.

I was reading through Box Rockets build thread earlier today, and he mentioned a similar situation. In his case the panhard bar bracket at the frame cracked its weld. Makes sense, any damage to the bar or its mount point would affect the orientation of the steering.

Convinced my brother to go down this muddy path. Had to pull him out :D

ordered some flat stock aluminum and steel c-channel to make drop brackets for my sway bars, only one of those projects that ive been getting around to doing for the last 7 years or so

Bub, that looks awesome!

Stock Land Cruiser, 50 degrees I would bet. All bets are off with modifications.

The calculation to figure it out is:

Angle = tan^-1 ((track width/2)/height of center of gravity))
Ha! SohCahToa! That’s what I remember of my Highschool trigonometry. So track width I can get. But how do I find the “ height of [my] center of gravity”? I prob can google how to figure that out, right?

NOT A CHANCE!

There are so many variables, it is not possible to get an accurate COG. Everything from fuel load, occupants, stuff in the rig, modifications including weight and location of sliders, skids, bumpers, lights, rack and even what side the driver is on etc. In short, unless you enjoy being truly anal, not possible to get an accurate guess.

Question for the experts...

Is the part pictured available as a replacement items from Mr T... If so does anyone know part number.. I nicked a tooth doing low range gears/part time kit.. Tries to file the spot down but it seems like the clutch collar catches in it from time to time, don’t want to put it back together and have problems shifting from Hi to Lo...

Thanks, Chris

Used the cruiser to go pick up a lightly used set of Milestar Patagonias (315/75R16) for a screaming deal along with a set of 16" factory 4Runner wheels for $35. Wheels will get painted soon and after the tires mounted they'll go on my son's '85 minitruck.

Weekend in the desert

Winter nice during the day cold during night.

A large herd of free camels

You can see that the alpha male feet are tied up to reduce the distance they can wander.

Someone took a picture of my 80 from long distance while I was filming the camels
